Yes, we know that the official release date for the highly anticipated 2013-14 Score Hockey Hobby Jumbo product doesn’t arrive until next Wednesday. But you can’t really present us with a box 10 days early and expect us not to open it. After all, Panini America fans and readers of The Knight’s Lance crave nothing more than the earliest possible sneak peeks — and that’s exactly what we intend to give you right now.

The first thing you notice about a 2013-14 Score Hockey Hobby Jumbo box is the girth. It’s a massive pack-busting proposition that tips the scales at more than 2.2 pounds and delivers a whopping 520 total cards.

Over the course of 10 packs you’ll discover two autographs, one Team 8s eight-piece memorabilia card and an abundant array of Hot Rookies RCs (the first installment of Panini America’s season-long Double Rookie Class), Gold and Black parallels, unparalleled photography and a slew of captivating inserts. The following gallery illustrates most of those things, and should give collectors a keen understanding of the magic that awaits when the product goes live next Wednesday.

Enjoy.

  1. This. Is. Great! Will probably just be able to get my hand on one of the “retail” boxes, but since they also seems to have great cards in them I would be happy otherwise. I really love Score, and I really love Panini. This preview is one of the reasons that I am so sure of that. And you, Tracy Hackler. Even if some of the stuff here works well as promotion for your products it also make me feel that I am a “part of the company”. In that way Panini is hundred times better than both of the other leading hockey card companies. Thanks again, let’s have a great double rookie class season!

      1. I busted two retail boxes this weekend and all I can say is “Wow!”. This has got to be the best Score hockey set ever and I have them all going back to 1990-91. Panini is the best! I’m already looking forward to 2013-14 Hoops. If it is anything like the new Score hockey set, we are in for a treat! Thanks, Tracy!

  2. Nice clean design and double rookie class…I picked up Conacher early in my fantasy leagues as well as Victor Fasth a good reason why I was victorious it is going to be great pulling their first cards!

  3. Good looking set, i dobt know most of the playera but i see a few names i do know on that 8 way jersey. Thanks Tracy!

  4. So does the retail version release on the same day or has it already been released?
Saw the retail as live on one website today.

  5. That is hugely epic, I must get a couple boxes of that to open up. I also loved the Carey Price and Galchenyuk card that you pulled.

  6. What is the difference with the alternate back? Is the red back the alternative back? How hard is it to get a red back? I’ve opened a jumbo box and a regular box and no red backs. Does the 36 pack box come in hobby and retail?

    Great looking product this year.
