In two short days, Panini America’s highly anticipated 2014 Playbook Football will arrive in hobby shops across North America, offering a bold, new take on one of the industry’s most unique releases. Bolstered this year by the still-spectacular Rookie Booklet Signatures, the return of the Down & Dirty Booklets and the captivating additions of Armory Booklets, Game of Inches Booklets, Nickname Booklets and more, 2014 Playbook Football is equipped with tons of compelling game-worn and player-worn memorabilia and equipped to impress.

I say all of that to say this: My day was made first thing this morning when our marketing allotment of 2014 Playbook Football boxes arrived before 9 a.m. So I docked my laptop, powered it on, cracked the seal on my energy drink of choice and grabbed the first six boxes I could get my hands on to deliver the following Teaser Gallery.

To be sure, 2014 Playbook Football is a quick-hitting product, with every two-card pack seeming to fly by in an instant. Of course, the dynamic nature of every booklet card mandates a more thorough examination in order to truly appreciate it — and that slows down the pace for a bit until you realize you have more boxes to rip through.

The following six-box preview takes you card-by-card through the experience. Enjoy, and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage.

  1. The Tre Mason? Tres’ magnifique!
The Derek Carr auto /25 is also really sweet.
The $100/MSRP is very appealing for a product with hit upside contained within 2014 Playbook.

  2. I’m generally impressed by Playbook so far, I’d like to see a wee bit more veteran content in there but you can’t argue with some of those auto’d prime mem books. Thanks Tracy!

  3. What’s with the Hot Rookies being inserted into Playbook? Most of the Playbook cards are pretty nice, those Hot Rookies autos, not so much. Airbrushed headshots… meh.

  4. I love the lower SRP price this year! I understand because of that you guys didn’t guarantee 2 books. I love the new acetate autos and love u guys added more Vets/HOFers books/autos! Playbook is a great appetizer for me because Flawless is coming out next week! I’ve been saving money/change for a few months now so I can buy just one briefcase of Flawless. I’m getting there but hopefully I cut a lot of haircuts next week so I can buy one. Wish me luck! Keep up the great work Tracy and everybody else at Panini!
