On Wednesday, Panini America's 2012-13 Momentum Basketball will hit hobby shops delivering five autographs and 15 cards in each silver-foiled fat pack. The 2013 NBA Playoffs aren’t the only on-court action picking up serious momentum right now. The basketball collecting hobby is, too — or at least it’s about to. On Wednesday, Panini America’s 2012-13 Momentum Basketball will hit hobby shops delivering five autographs and 15 cards in each silver-foiled fat pack. We presented the Quality Control Gallery for the product last week. Today, we’re breaking into a pair of honest-to-goodness boxes.

In an effort to provide with a good idea of what you can expect from the product, the following gallery takes you card-by-card through two 15-card boxes. While we did pull one redemption card, we also unearthed a rare 1/1 Black parallel that is a real stunner.

Check out the following gallery and stay tuned afterward the images for a link to the complete 2012-13 Momentum Basketball checklist. Enjoy.

  1. Looks Like another Panini Hits!
    Thanks for the cool Preview!
    The checklist looks Really Solid!
Basketball collectors across the globes will definitely look into this Fresh Panini Momentum!!!
    Keep it up Team Panini!!!

  2. The second box looks really cool!
By the way, do you have any other picture about Wes Unseld? It is the same picture in different products about him, or at least what i have seen so far 😀

  3. When the box is more artistic than the cards inside, it is not a good product. Most boring design ever! All this release does is halt the “momentum” from the much better Panini Preferred set.

  4. Two boxes = 9 autos +1 auto redemption = 9 sticker autos + 1 probable sticker auto. Not good arithmetic I’m afraid.

I’m curious as to why cards don’t have an RC on them…. for example: the Anthony Davis card appears just like a non-rookie base card….. no indication it’s a RC.

  5. Really digging the basketball adaptation of this program, my favorite has to be the Chris Mullin auto. When I was a kid, while everyone else was pretending to be Jordan and Shaq I was pretending to be Mullin (I was a remarkably self-aware skinny white kid). Thanks Tracy!

  6. I’m an unabashed and unapologetic fan of Panini products. The infusion of creativity and outside-the-hobby box-thinking, coupled with the implementation of printing technologies, such as razor-keen die-cuts and card finishes (cracked ice, blue wave, Nufex, etc.) all comes together, it seems, in Momentum Basketball.
I’ve never been a set-builder, but every once in awhile a product hits the market and I am compelled to try and assemble a set. Momentum Basketball, with it’s clean look, has grabbed my attention. Beautiful work!

  7. glad i saw the preview before i spent my money on this. do not like it at all!! at this price
