After just ripping through a 24-pack hobby box of Panini America’s triumphantly returning 2014 Donruss Baseball, I can tell you that there are certain guarantees that accompany the experience. You’re going to get lots of cards (192), you’re going to have lots of fun and you’re going to revisit lots of your fondest collecting memories.

Incorporating the stars of yesterday, today and tomorrow with some of the most beloved inserts, subsets and technologies in baseball card history, each box of 2014 Donruss Baseball packs an impact from the first pack to the 25th (the last being an oversized box-topper, of course). As you’ll see in the gallery that follows, names that long ago became part of collectible lore (like Diamond Kings, Elite Series, Dominators, Rated Rookie, Press Proofs and more) are back with a vengeance.

2014 Donruss Baseball isn’t all throwback, though. Collectors also will notice some nifty new additions since they last saw a Donruss product in 2005, primarily in the set’s Breakout and Hall Worthy inserts. Each hobby box of 2014 Donruss Baseball promises two autographs and one memorabilia card; but as the box we opened illustrates, it is possible to get two memorabilia cards in a box.

At just $3 a pack, 2014 Donruss Baseball combines an affordable and entertaining experience with the possibility of pulling some bona fide collection-makers. The following Teaser Gallery takes you pack by pack through one sealed box. Enjoy the experience, and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2014 Donruss Baseball, which releases to the hobby tomorrow.

  1. I love the fact that its nostalgic and is low cost. This just got me back to collecting baseball again. I look forward to grabbing and busting a few of these boxes! Great job as always! #AbovetheRest

  2. Can you publish a complete checklist? I was told that once the set is actually released it will be on the Panini site. You have to know now???

  3. Hey Tracy! How about a “best Donruss baseball pull” or a “best Donruss Baseball memory” contest. That would be a great way to stoke the nostalgia amongst us original Donruss enthusiasts!!!!

  4. Great looking stuff! Do the box toppers have autographed versions? Really brings me back to childhood collecting

  5. WOW that’s alot of cards in one box. Probably complete the set in two boxes. Paninin did a real good job with making them look like the old 90’s again. Are any inserts short printed like the Team MVP? Like seeing fewer rookie cards in the boxes, just add to the chase factor. Need more products that are harder to chase down cards to complete the sets. It’s getting really easy to complete master sets let alone base sets.

  6. Wow, takes me back to when I started collecting just over 20 years ago and I was reading your articals (Tracy) out of a magazine.
