Call it a delicious dose of four-tin foreshadowing. Late yesterday evening, the marketing allotment of 2012-13 Timeless Treasures Basketball arrived safely and soundly. First thing this morning, I cracked into four randomly selected tins as a means of showing you what to expect from Panini America's newest NBA trading card product that releases to the hobby tomorrow.

Although the front of every collectible tin promises five cards, the four I opened for this preview each delivered seven — four base cards and a combination of three autograph or memorabilia cards. From the refreshingly redesigned autograph Rookie Cards to the twisted Revolution Memorabilia inserts, there’s clearly a lot to like in 2012-13 Timeless Treasures Basketball.
The following teaser gallery — which takes you tin-by-tin through four packs — should provide valuable insight into just some of the greatness to come. At the end, we also provide a closer look at the inserts and parallels from our bust.
Enjoy, and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional updates on 2012-13 Timeless Treasures Basketball.
The rotating relic card with swatches of 2 different player’s jerseys is a really neat idea. I hope that gets used in the future for other products like hockey and football. Also, the window-like autographs are really cool. I don’t really like the autographs where the stickers are vertical, but it allows for different images to be used so that seems fine to me. The dicuts look really nice too!
Cool. I like the revolution materials card. I think this type of post is great since you can see the entire contents of a box/tin.
I really like the look of the base cards and the glass rookie autos look amazing. This looks like a really fun break. Nice job, Panini.
Tracy love that four beautifully done tin cans!
That alone is a treasure! Would love to have a hand on the Mamba! The revolution is a must have! Well done again Panini we are very excited for Timeless Treasures! Thanks for the beautiful preview!
Kudos to Panini Team!
Pretty impressive. I liked the football version which I hope you guys are considering for 12, but if not, the basketball will due 🙂
Thanks for the early break!
Is it true that there are no tags this year?
I am a big fan of the Kevin Garnet with the big
KEVIN” up top…
Very cool Product.
Hopefully will have a chance on these beauty.
Basketball gets another treasure chest for the keeping.
Cool product, but 4 meh breaks. I may pass and stick with Prizm.
WOW!!! Give me tin 3 any day–Durant on the cover, Perry Jones Auto, Stephen Jackson base, dual jersey of two of the greatest bigs of all time and a Thunder Dan graph to boot. Can’t get much better for this collector. Thanks for the break Tracy.
The base cards look great……
Looks great- Still waiting for crown royale unwrapped…
Thunder Dan has such a cool auto!
Those are some pretty rough breaks at $100 a pop. Marcus Camby isnt horrible, but I’m willing to bet that consumers would much rather pull an autograph of Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Carmelo Anthony, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Shaquille O’Neal, Damian Lillard, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Reggie Miller, Shawn Kemp, Deron Williams, Amare Stoudemire, Ricky Rubio… eh, never mind.
Question…what are you going to do for Kobe’s retirement season? Aren’t these Kobe packs a bit early?
No. He’s still got some titles to win.
Not if the celtics have anything to say about that. Go celtics!!!!!
Not from the looks of it how the Lakers have been playin. One can only hope.
I’m liking the dual jersey window concept, great addition
love the treasured ink. design is so classy with big on card autos. can’t wait to get some boxes of this stuff. great job panini 😀
How many different tins are there?
Four different player tins: Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin and Kyrie Irving.
Checklist?
Will post the checklist with the Panini Unwrapped episode later this morning. Stay tuned.
Glad I didn’t pay for any of those boxes. Also glad I don’t buy boxes and end up with rc autos that have no business being in the product. Please limit the rc auto players in each product. There’s no need to have over 80% of players drafted have autos. Should only be about 20-25 and product(s) should have more stars in them.
Are all of the 3-piece puzzle cards /199 for each player or are there 199 combined for each puzzle? If it’s a total of 199 are some more rare than others? i.e. the Kobe more rare than the Gasol and Nash.
