NICE CARDS- ONE MAJOR CONCERN THOUGH IS THE FACT THAT THE EBERLE ROOKIE AUTO JERSEY ABOVE HAS LANGUAGE ON THE BACK THAT STATES THIS IS A “GAME USED JERSEY”
WHILE IT IS POSSIBLE THIS IS A PRE-SEASON GAME USED JERSEY (WHICH IN THAT CASE I DONT CONSIDER THAT GAME USED, GAME USED SHOULD BE REGULAR SEASON OR PLAYOFFS ONLY- IE GAMES THAT COUNT), I PRESUME THIS IS A ROOKIE PHOTO SHOOT USED JERSEY.
WHY TRY TO PULL THE QUICK ONE- HOCKEY COLLECTORS ARE THE BRIGHTEST COLLECTORS OUT THERE!
Donny, thanks for your comment. I went directly to the source — Hockey Brand Manager Al Muir — to get the scoop. Here’s what Al had to say:
“No one was trying to pull a fast one. After all, the cards were produced after each player had skated in his first game, so of course these swatches were taken from jerseys worn at the NHLPA Rookie Showcase. There was no earthly way we could get a game jersey that fast … and no way hockey collectors would believe we could. This was a flat-out mistake. In our haste to get the cards made, the “standard” language was put in place, rather than a customized text. A new system has been put in place to ensure this won’t happen again in the future.”
Busted a box earlier tonight, working up a post/review. A question though, I pulled a Brett Hull ‘Big Men On Campus’ swatch card #15. In the checklist #15 is said to be Brandon Yip. Was Yip a mis-print on the checklist or did Hull replace him in the set after the fact?
Great product, enjoyed the bust. Looking forward to my next box.
Thanks for the love, man. I look forward to reading your review of Certified but am glad to hear your experience was mostly positive.
I’ll check with Al Muir, our trusty Hockey Brand Manager, on your checklist question and get back to you. Thanks again.
That Dino card is ridiculous; must have! In fact, I want that entire subset! And the Collision Course set too!
We can say how great this product is all day long but the box breaks speak for themselves. Great start in HK for Panini:

I know it just came out recently, but any idea when the Subban autographs might be in? I redeemed the Mirror Black 1/1 the other day and am just really looking forward to getting it in the mail.
Great first effort guys! At first, I wondered whether or not you guys were going to take the hockey thing seriously, after ripping Certified it’s clear to me that you guys put a great deal of thought and effort in Certified and I can’t wait to see some of your upcoming products. On a side note, is the Rated Rookie meant to be Panini’s answer to Upper Deck’s Young Guns? If so, I can’t wait! Keep up the good work with the Knight’s Lance too Tracy, it makes my job more fun and is an exciting change of pace from the boring press releases and run of the mill news from the other companies.
Thanks for the kind words, Brett. I really appreciate them. And thanks for reading, too.

I’ve heard of Hot boxes in this set where every card in every pack was numbered, I still think this is one heck of a Hot Box.
