The Panini America Drool Gallery: 2011-12 Prime Hockey Prime Ties (103 Images)

I have a confession to make: When I first laid eyes on the overwhelmingly unique Prime Ties insert cards from the new 2011-12 Prime Hockey, I was speechless, my tongue tied and twisted in knots like the laces I was looking at. That was two weeks ago, during the quality-control process for the ballyhooed product.

Here’s what I wrote at the time right here on The Knight’s Lance about the revolutionary memorabilia cards featuring game- and event-worn jersey lace-ups: “Words alone can’t do these gems justice. Simply, these are some of the coolest hockey cards I’ve ever seen. Here’s betting you’ll agree. Obviously, these ties to die for won’t fit in a Prime box; but they are ready to go and will be issued via redemption cards as soon as they’re entered into the Panini America redemption system.”

The truth of the matter is that I would say that about these cards even if I didn’t work here. But luckily, I do. And as a result, I was able to secure images of every card in the set — before they started making their way out to collectors earlier this week — for the following Panini America Drool Gallery.

Enjoy . . .

  1. Tracy: Thanks for posting the pictures, I can’t wait to receive the Blake Wheeler prime ties that I pulled! Just was on the phone with customer service and they told me the card ships tomorrow (9-6) WoW can’t wait!!!!

  2. Tracy, I’ll be frank with you. From what I’ve seen and watching over a hundred box breaks online, Panini’s hockey team have really outdone themselves with this product. You may not be making the price of a box back, but with the size and quality of the prime pieces being included (Jumbos, Mark, Genuine Mark, Remarkable Mark, etc) and on-card autographs galore, it’s been fun to watch and I have a box on the way. I think they’ve really raised the bar. Tell the football and basketball team they’ve got work to do. Ditch those nickel size memorabila pieces and give us half dollar bill sized memorabilia for a product. Peace out and enjoy the game!

  3. Insane!!!!……..I can remember my very first jersey had laces like those on it….keep in mind they have just recently brought them back…….so these cards really take me back to my childhood days….great stuff AAA+++

  4. This is about the coolest insert that I have ever seen, nice job staying ahead of the other card companies. I would love to get a hold of the DiPietro card.

  5. These are really amazing looking cards, I hope there are similarly formatted cards in store for other sports in the future as well. Thanks for posting the gallery Tracy, great job as always!

  6. Any chance I can win any of these? ABSOLUTELY LOVE the laces in the cards idea. It is super cool- any amazing ideas like this for football cards would be even better?

    1. Quite a few of those rookie Prime Ties cards are from NHLPA Showcase jerseys, AC. The Kassian you were asking about, Adam Henrique, Marcus Kruger, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. It’s nice that they included a picture of the back of the RNH card, where it clearly identifies it as an event worn piece of memorabilia, and even includes a picture of RNH in the NHLPA jersey.

  7. Really? Only two Sharks players and both are from their previous teams? TJ I understand but Burns? He was in SJ the whole season….

  8. Tracy: Fed Ex delivered my Blake Wheeler this afternoon. What an AWESOME card. Thank you again for a great, great card! Can’t beat the turnaround either. Received the card in less than one week! Great work by your redemption team as well. Thanks again, Ron
