Even as the recently released 2012-13 NBA Hoops product — Panini America’s first release of the new NBA collecting season — continues its scorching performance on the secondary-market, many collectors remain focused on what’s coming next: 2012-13 Prestige Basketball.

Judging by the feedback we’ve received on The Knight’s Lance, Twitter and Facebook, it appears that the absence of Prestige last season has only made the collective collecting heart grow fonder for the venerable brand. The good news: It will be live September 12. The better news: Today we deliver the first extended previews of a few base inserts from Prestige.

Included in the following 36-image gallery are selected singles from the Stars of the NBA, Hardcourt Heroes and Connections inserts, as well as a preview of Prestige’s Bonus Shots base parallel. Hardcore hoops fans should appreciate both the many compelling combinations in the Connections insert and the two-photo fronts of just about everything else.

Enjoy this sneak peek and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance tomorrow for a quick rundown of the most impressive secondary-market sales being recorded on 2012-13 NBA Hoops, including the crazy kingly sums being paid for Kyrie Irving.

  1. First off, I can’t believe my email sent this to spam…would have missed such a great gallery! the design of the rookie cards look great. The two color photos with the gray shadow behind the colored really stand out! I like the design of connections being at an angle instead of side by side as they have been before in the past. That is a nice improvement. The Hardcourt heroes look nice as well.

  2. when does this product come out . i have heard it comes out august 29? is that true ? anyways good job panini really like the looks of the cards .

  3. Wow. Those are some of the most boring photos ever. Really? The best shot of LeBron you could get is of him holding the basketball?

  4. I really dig the design of this years prestige. I don’t think the photos are boring, they are standard photos. The rookie cards are really nice and although they remind me of an old design they really hit it for me.
The Stars of the NBA inserts remind me of Limited base from this year which is something I had previously commented on that I wish were in lower-mid end products.

It’s a shame it comes out on the 12th as it’s my Birthday on the 2nd. Guess I will have to try and hang on to some Birthday cash so I can get a box when they go live.

    1. I’m just saying it would have been nice for the cards to have real action shots – not of the players holding the basketball…but dunking it.
Or flying through the air. Not dribbling it up past half-court.
