The Panini America QC Gallery: 2011 Plates & Patches Football (39 Must-See Images)

A week from now, Super Bowl XLVI combatants from the New England Patriots and New York Giants will have long since landed in Indianapolis, gone through the rigors of Super Bowl Media Day and will be well on their way to finalizing preparations for the big game itself.

A week from now, Super Bowl XLVI combatants from the New England Patriots and New York Giants will have long since landed in Indianapolis, gone through the rigors of Super Bowl Media Day and will be well on their way to finalizing preparations for the big game itself.

Meanwhile, passionate collectors of those two teams — and every other team in the NFL — will be readying for Super Bowl XLVI like only they can: By feasting on Panini America’s 2011 Plates & Patches Football, which arrives in hobby shops February 1 to kick off the month in spectacular fashion.

Earlier this week, Panini America’s Ben Ecklar and Carlos Torrez got their first live look at the product during a two-case quality-control process that yielded big hits, hot Rookie Cards and some of the most fancily foiled football cards on the planet.

What follows are just some of the splendid hits they discovered. Here’s hoping this gallery is enough to satiate you until next week.

  1. Looks like an excellent return in 11 for this product, but I have to ask the following 2 questions:

    1. At what rate will MULTI-color prime memorabilia pieces fall? Last year seemed to be a little short in the average box.

    2. How many autos will be live vs. redemptions? Last year’s edition had a LOT of redemptions and it was frustrating to collectors.

Thanks for any answers you can provide!

    1. Just heard from NFL Brand Manager Carlos Torrez.

All on-card Rookie Premiere RCs will include prime pieces. Also, while there are some redemptions, Carlos has confirmed that they fall at a lower rate than 2010 and most of the key guys are in-pack.

      Hope this information helps, Tom.

  2. AWESOME!!! FOOTBALL GALLERY!!! BEEN WAITING ON ONE! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE GALLERY TRACY!!

Incredible Pat willis!!! I love the ruby color design that encloses the jersey pieces. Sweet looking autos and some incredible patches in this product. Sweet Cam Newton!! Would love to get my hands on his auto. There must be Eli mannings autos in this product too?

Gridiron cuts look fantastic. Love the plates autos.

I will obviously be looking forward to the Super Bowl. This product looks incredible and wished I could look forward to it as well but cant afford any cards right now and usually this is out of my affordable range. So just seeing a gallery is all i can see.

However seeing a Henry Hynoski rookie auto…awesome!! Is this the first on the market??

  3. Hopefully I can see a break of this product with a special Panini Unwrapped??? Always look forward to those. And maybe there can be a possible contest with it 😉 ??

  4. WHy can’t that put the nameplates in the way they are suppose to go. It really draws from the card. Using the WIllis above with the upside down W as an example

  5. hey tracy, any way i can get a update on my redemptions i sent in a dwyer plates and patches rc auto patch they said that you guys could give me a replacement but no one called back from yesterday. i also sent in a 2007 craig davis black 1/1 rc auto from rookies and stars it is one of them mail in ones they said you guys could give me the card or something else.

let me know you can email me thanks!

  6. Will it take two years for players to still not have signed their redemptions like Dez Bryant, or have we fixed that problem yet?

    1. Funny. Now’s probably a good time to reiterate that EVERY memorabilia card we produce is hand-made, with the swatches placed into the card before the card front is applied. We obviously try to avoid any mistakes, but as with any human process, errors sometimes occur.

  7. I loved P&P last year, and this year’s incarnation looks even more robust. Hope to purchase a box or 3! Great gallery and yes, the Willis card is a thing of beauty.

  8. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE A REDEMPTION? I GOT A ROGER STAUBACH GAME WORN JERSEY AUTO CARD I’M WAITING ON… I’M KINDA NEW TO THE HOBBY SO REALLY I HAVE NO IDEA….

    1. First of all, welcome to the hobby, Chad. We’re happy to have you. The turnaround time on redemptions usually varies from player to player. What set is your Staubach card from?

  9. Love the pics Tracy! Great news about the Rodgers redemptions!!!! I cant wait to recieve my Prime Cuts auto of his! Keep up the great work as always Panini!

  10. I bought a box today. Pulled a Cam Newton Rookie Patch Auto and a Julio Jones Laundry Tag Auto Rookie redemption (probably a 1/1) out of the same box. Probably the best pulls out of one box I’ve ever had. What do I think of this product? I can’t stop grinning.
