Panini America Product Development Director Ben Ecklar stopped me in the hall this morning with his iPhone in hand and let his fingers do the talking as he swiped his way to his phone's photo inventory. He then handed the phone to me and asked if I'd be interested in using any of "those images."
Panini America Product Development Director Ben Ecklar stopped me in the hall this morning with his iPhone in hand and let his fingers do the talking as he swiped his way to his phone’s photo inventory. He then handed the phone to me and asked if I’d be interested in using any of “those images.”
Those images, it should be noted, were taken by Ecklar on Monday and Tuesday during his trip to the printing facility to pack out and QC the heavily anticipated 2011 Donruss Limited Cuts, the cut-autograph-per-pack blockbuster that began shipping today.
It took me all of about two minutes — maybe less — to drag those images to my desktop and begin preparing the following gallery. As you’ll soon see, 2011 Donruss Limited Cuts appears to be a truly epic offering with a high ceiling and tons of handwritten history that spans the worlds of sports, entertainment, politics and pop culture.
I could go on and on about the set’s checklist or its dual- and quad-signed cornerstones, but figured it would probably be best just to let Ecklar’s images tell the story for me.
Enjoy.
estimated release date?
Next week.
I hope they did something to make the book cards undetectable from pack searchers who can find the fold open cards compared to the regular cut auto cards UNLIKE Upper Deck’s 2011 Legendary Cuts where guys on ebay would have a fold open 4 player cut for sale along with 4 unopened boxes from their 5 box case!!!
I think we have that issue addressed.
these are crazy, but can I ask why is this called “Donruss Prime Cuts again?”
It’s actually Donruss Limited Cuts, my apologies for the Prime Cuts mention. It has been corrected.
isnt it supposed to be panini?
It’s obviously produced under the Panini America umbrella, but the “Donruss” name still carries a lot of clout with such products.
INCREDIBLE!!! WHO WOULDNT WANT TO OWN A DUAL WITH JACKSON/ELVIS???
2 OF THE BIGGEST IN MUSIC EVER!!
VERY SICK GALLERY!!

The Carson/McMahon one is really nice too.
Great use of Ben Hogan, here’s a guy that still inspires golfers greatly to this day. His 5 Lessons instructional book will teach you more than just how to play golf.
Tracy,
Can you tell me if you guys posted the winners from the Thanksgiving weekend contest:
Panini America’s Black Friday Contest: Tell Us What Cards You’re Most Thankful For
Just sent the Facebook winner notifications and am about to email The Knight’s Lance winners.
thanks Tracy
I really like the cards with the little sketches.
Absolutely stunning looking cards. Beautiful.
And boom goes the dynamite! Awesome names in there cut Elvis auto is AWESOME!
BOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!! These cards are the BOMB!! Sorry i took it a little old school there. But 4real these cards are Sweet! I cant wait to bust a box or two or three or four.or ten. I would probaly pass out if i pulled the Babe Ruth or the dual cut Dimaggio/ Ted Williams! Great job Panini and this product looks SO much better than that other company out west version, by far! Keep up the great work Panini!!
While I’m really looking forward to seeing this product live and even opening some of it myself, it seems my concerns over key autographs getting cut off in the windows provided by Panini on these cards is true. I regret to think that may hurt secondary market sales.
On the plus side, The stuff looks great! some very interesting and unique combos!
Geoff
I actually think from what I have seen of this product, they do a pretty good job of retaining the full signature. There’s a few that the window is cropped a little too tight – but I see nothing that would diminish my excitement at getting the card. But hopefully there is nothing in this product as egregiously cropped as this Paul Newman card – the top of the letter “P” and virtually the entire last name are cut off!! If the signature is not going to fit on the card, find another signature or don’t make the card, imo.

UnFreakin Fantastic! What a LINE UP! Tiger Woods, Sir Michael Jackson, The Big Man himself BABE RUTH! And the list goes on! ANOTHER HOME RUN HIT by PANINI!
Very Nice Tracy! Any suggestions of reputable secondary market or distributors who will handle this? Now that my local shop is worthless, I must find a secondary source. Any suggestions in an email would be great friend. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Wow just got home and checked all the other images as at work my phone is woefully slow. BOB KANE!!! That is just an epic signature to have. Wow…just wow
Any checklist at this point? Or will one not be generated?
Nasty, Nasty, and More Nastiness! That’s crazy Babe Michael Elvis Cobb SICK!
Nice Tracy!
In this product I can’t really pick one as the Holy Grail as most of these are just awesome and there are certainly quite a few that I would not mind owning….The placement of the cuts and framing are very well done I have seen some that were horrid in the past…Well done!
Are the booklet cuts going to be in a onetouch?
amazing list of cuts…would luv to have anyone of them
Just pulled the Travers / Stewart card!!! 🙂
Michael was a very misunderstood entertainer. Although he was troubled in his personal life, as an artist the man was a true genius. He will be missed but fortunately his works have been well documented and achieved on sites like this for all to enjoy.
