Later this week, Panini America officials -- and seemingly everyone else in the basketball world -- will turn their collective attention to Houston and the 2013 NBA All-Star Game. But late last week, a few of those aforementioned officials had their gaze fixed firmly on quality controlling and packing out 2012-13 Elite Basketball.
Later this week, Panini America officials — and seemingly everyone else in the basketball world — will turn their collective attention to Houston and the 2013 NBA All-Star Game. But late last week, a few of those aforementioned officials had their gaze fixed firmly on quality controlling and packing out 2012-13 Elite Basketball.
The newest product from the company’s packed roster of 2012-13 NBA products will arrive in hobby shops February 20, a bona fide throwback gem that calls upon some of the greatest inserts and parallels of all time to create a completely new collecting experience.
From the see-through beauty of Elite’s acetate Rookie Inscriptions to the colorful, die-cut rarity of the set’s Aspirations and Status parallels to the statistically significant Prime Numbers insert, 2012-13 Elite Basketball offers a little something for everyone. It’s a refreshing update on one of the hobby’s most storied brands — and you’ll get your first crack at it next week.
But until then, you can bide your time quite well with the following Quality Control Gallery that details a great cross-section of everything that 2012-13 Elite Basketball provides.
Here’s one shop owner happy to see Elite back in the basketball lineup!
Tracy Thanks for that Beautiful preview!
I Got Dibs on all Kobe!
Now Just can’t wait for its release!
Its going to be exciting even to be pulling A Dwayne Wade Auto live on our YouTube Chanel.
This would be one of our favorite Panini product!
Salute!
Peace!
Good stuff! I like the design!
Outstanding preview, love the die cuts and acetate autos. Thanks Tracy!
Wow. This stuff looks great! I hope to get my hands on a box as soon as these come out. Nice job Panini.
I’m SO pumped for Elite!!! I can’t wait to rip open some boxes!!! You guys at Panini keep up the geat work and I hope everybody knows that Panini is the BEST in the business!
Love those cards! And the best is that sheed is in the base Set! Woohoo, thanks panini!
Got Shved?
Yes, his first Rookie Card is in here. As soon as we can get our hands on one, we’ll show it off!
Nice! Autographed? Oh, and will Lillard have a non auto white hot rookie or base in Select?
Hey Tracy,
Love the cards!! Especially the EWING! Your team showed alot of imagination and creativity in this set. Has a bit of everything….I like how the diamond cards pop out at you. Great job guys.
Sweet! Can’t wait to get my hands on one of his cards.
Those acetate inscriptions look sweet!
I know I am going to be dropping a lot of money on this one! I love the die cut designs and the refractors. My favorite jersey look is the Joe Johnson card. I really like how yall did the long way jersey cut. Its a nice switch up from the smaller squares or circles. Great job guys! Can’t wait till my local hobby shop gets this in!
I am so excited for this to hit stores. But, being a die hard celtics fan it brings back painful memories seeing that ray Allen card. I hope a I never pull that.
Probly the best product Panini has done to date in mba products always like Elite.
great job guys
I really like the Elite series cards, they have a nice ’90s retro feel to them.
I know you need/want to hype your products, but seriously… “a bona fide throwback gem that calls upon some of the greatest inserts and parallels of all time” – what??
Do you have anything that resembles Essential Credentials, Star Rubies, 90s kinds of inserts which actually WERE the greatest of all time… rather than just the typical Panini glossy/refractory finish on cheap looking cards? Your constant over-the-top drivel when it comes to new products has hit a ridiculous all-time low.
I take it this is the “angry” in hairyangryfella.
This is the ‘sick of the constant spew’ part… What exactly are throwback about these cards? What about them “calls upon some of the greatest inserts and parallels of all time”?
I do like the Inscriptions, as I did in football, and the cards look ok. The point here is about the OMG MOJO descriptions of everything and how irrelevant it is to this product…
My intent is never to alienate, man. I think most folks would agree that Aspirations and Status have attained landmark parallel status by now; Throwback Threads is one of longest-running memorabilia inserts going. Inscriptions is a throwback to the mid 1990s. Those three things, more than anything else, were what I was talking about.
Certainly appreciate your candor and your feedback. Keep it coming.
I certainly don’t agree with his assesent, but I AM impressed by Angry’s use of the term, “drivel.”
I am digging on the Throwback Threads. Several of the images fail to translate when I load up the gallery; Any “Passing the Torch?” I propose a “Kobe / Kyrie” PTT. Oh man, THAT’S drivel. Panini could NEVER pull something like THAT off.
…could they? 🙂
“Aspirations and Status have attained landmark parallel status by now” – Elite has only been around since 2009-10 hasn’t it? How can parallels that I have witnessed not being warmly appreciated in the hobby have reached ‘landmark status’ in only 3-4 years?
This isn’t about the cards, this is about the ‘over-selling’, it’s frustrating. Ok, partly about the cards – there shouldn’t really be sticker autos on acetate cards…
You guys are always halfway onto a winner, but there are always flaws. However you then pump it as being the greatest thing ever…
In basketball, yes. But the Aspirations parallel has been around since the mid to late 1990s in other sports and has established a loyal following.
So this is “a bona fide throwback gem that calls upon some of the greatest inserts and parallels of all time” and “landmark status”… in other sports. Gotcha. You do understand that the basketball side of the hobby is a different monster, right?
I won’t bother you about this anymore, thanks for being a sport and posting my comments too – I appreciate the banter.
The feeling is mutual. And you’re not bothering me at all. Appreciate the back-and-forth.
We’re looking for constructive criticism here. If you have an idea to better a product, share it. If you don’t like the look of something, tell us why. This is your best chance to have an influence over future products.
As for my opinion, Elite basketball looks legit. I love the acetate autos, foil die-cuts, and I’m anxious to see more Turn of the Century autos. I would’ve liked a gold foil treatment in the background of the Gold Elite Series cards instead of just the gold text and serial number. Minus the game used cards, Prime Numbers, & Craftsmen inserts, I think Panini did a great job capturing the Elite brand in these cards. The aforementioned inserts remind me of a product like Threads.
OMG WOW SO AWESOME WOO HOOO
You know what would be nice? To see a basketball card with a photo of a dunk once in a while. Look at the 104 photos…not one dunk. Yes, a couple of shots of players going up….but not a single dunk.
I like the regular cards-the player superimposed over the frosted logo looks cool. I am also always partial to the throwback threads and autos as well.
Loving the look of these, the logo’s behind the players onthe Elite Rookies are just awesome! The turn of the century Die-Cuts are sweet too.
Incredible stuff. Always been a fan of Elite for any sport.
I just found this product interesting/disappointing
which the acetate rookie autos are not all on card. Some of you might say
it doesnt matter for the auto are either sticker/on cardbut it does for me .
when you pick up the autos of Dion Waiters and Marquis Teague
(in fact, Teague is the player in my fav team), it’s like a big difference.
If you like players like Jimmer Range/Waiters as shown above, you’ve got a big luck.
I’m from Hong Kong and I deeply hope Panini can hear this piece of opinion outside USA,
hence letting the rest of readers here know what my concern is.
I just dont wish this kinda situation happens again.
What a great product. I’m really happen about this release, I can wait tell I can get my hands on a box. Thanks for the gallery Tracy!
blues greens reds…diecuts always loved Elite nomatter the sport
