The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2012-13 Elite Series Basketball (106 Pics)

So, how do you follow an industry-rattling juggernaut like 2012-13 National Treasures Basketball? Although that's something of a rhetorical question, it's one that must be answered -- and will be definitively -- when 2012-13 Elite Series Basketball releases August 21, exactly three weeks after the still-scorching NT.

So, how do you follow an industry-rattling juggernaut like 2012-13 National Treasures Basketball? Although that’s something of a rhetorical question, it’s one that must be answered — and will be definitively — when 2012-13 Elite Series Basketball releases August 21, exactly three weeks after the still-scorching NT.

For the record, though, here’s how Panini America plans to follow it: With fancily foiled base cards that look more like inserts. With perpetually popular autographed brand staples such as Court Kings and Inscriptions. With super-premium upgrades to the venerable Passing the Torch Autographs, and Aspirations and Status parallels. Oh, and for good measure, you throw in the company’s first Plexiglas inserts with Elite Glass and Glass Masters.

That’s the elevator-pitch summation of 2012-13 Elite Series Basketball, which promises to be an immediate candidate for Rookie Product of the Year and one that provides a distinctly different — but no-less-enticing — collecting experience than National Treasures.

Over the weekend, the Panini America NBA Product Development team got up close and personal with Elite Series during the packout process. What follows are the considerable fruits of their labor, an exhaustive gallery that provides your first extended look at the devastatingly good-looking 2012-13 Elite Series Basketball.

Enjoy, and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional coverage.

  1. Love the look of the Glass Masters cards, what a great idea. The Rainbow foil is also looking really good.

  2. I have two questions. IS THERE GONNA BE A RETAIL CUZ IM STOKED ABOUT THIS STUFF?! I was also wondering if Dion Waiters was in the checklist?

  3. Faint Worthy Mojos!
    Im Drooling! On-Card and On-Point!
I hope the beautiful box design lives up to these beauties!
    Thanks Tracy!

  4. The Glass Masters looks great!!!
Well its super tough to follow up NT as it will continue to be
    A collectors dream cards.
Like the inclusion of RC to its cards.
Especially double class it just made it a lot easier for collectors.
I’m sure this is just a small peek of what may be coming our way.
    Thanks Tracy!

      1. Tracy, can you all please get the Kawhi Leonard National Treasures RPAs out? We paid over $600 per box for this stuff and it’s not fair the only people who got their redemptions processed are those who went to the National. You all have them so please tell them to ship them!!!

  5. Eating ice cream while watching this gallery… the two together make these few minutes probably the most enjoyable part of the day.
Good job again nice looking cards, and what is true for other products of yours i guess it is also true here, that they looks even better in real life.

Why is the serial numbers are different on the Aspiration cards?
(I don’t think that this is the case, but it is tempting to think that it is depend on how many sticker out you had left in the storage for each player – of course i am just kidding.)

  6. Before reading this post, I thought no one was going to beat the National Treasures product. But that was before! After reading this post, this product is a must buy! It has to be!
What’s not to love about this product? The rainbow foil is absolutely perfect! As well as the elite series! I’m loving the Elite Glass already.
Please Tracy make this into a retail box as well!

  7. I hope hoops fans enjoy this set, looks good from the skim I just gave it. I have a feeling there’s a contest coming where I’ll be able to study them more in depth lol. Thanks Tracy!

  8. Glad to see the Court Kings set is back, but I don’t see the theme. Rookies? Legends? Solid, but unspectacular players?
