The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball (111 Pics)

There's an old saying that goes a little something like "all that glitters is not gold." It's not true -- at least not as it relates to the gallery you're about to lay eyes on. Everything you see glittering below absolutely is gold, or at least emanates from the decadent 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball, which arrives in hobby shops everywhere next week.

There’s an old saying that goes a little something like “all that glitters is not gold.” It’s not true — at least not as it relates to the gallery you’re about to lay eyes on. Everything you see glittering below absolutely is gold, or at least emanates from the decadent 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball, which arrives in hobby shops everywhere next week.

And we’re not talking fool’s gold here. We’re talking full-on, unadulterated drool’s gold; the kind of cards that will leave you dabbing your chin with one hand and clicking your computer mouse for the next image with the other. Indeed, the third installment of Panini America’s Gold Standard Basketball brand looks to be a tour de force kind of development that includes one-per-box Metal cards and a resplendent selection of autographs, memorabilia cards, striking aesthetics and, yes, even authentic pieces of gold.

The following gallery details just some of the hits that surfaced during the 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball Quality Control process earlier this week, 111 images worth of “wow” that should sufficiently whet your appetite until your able to get your hands on the product beginning next Wednesday. Enjoy the sneak peek and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional coverage of the product next week.

  1. Auto relics look incredible.Base parallels look really cool too. My only knock is the horizontal cards where the autos are sideways. Other than that this product looks like it’s shaping to be something stellar. Can’t wait to see what else is in store for this product.

I think I might be buying my first super high end product. This is a pretty big deal for me!

  2. Absolutely gorgeous! Hope I get some of my 2011/2012 Gold Standard redemptions soon, would be nice before the same players go live in your 2013 product….

  3. My Goodness.

    Beautiful tasteful preview.
    Love it!

      1. Thanks Tracy! The draft pick redemptions were my favorite cards from last years Gold Standard. Glad they decided to bring the metal cards back this year!

  4. I don’t know what to say, i mean i don’t know how to put it into words, if i say these cards are beautiful, it would be an understatement. wow wow wow

(i hope we will see a contest where we can have a chance to win a box of it!)

  5. We collectors in Asia still demanding Jeremy Lin auto cards! Jeremy Lin’s Black 1/1 Crusade Prizm sold for $400 on eBay. That’s demand! But no JLin auto at all in 2012-13 so far!

    1. Yes, Tracy why arent there no Jeremy Lin autos ??? will he be in National Treasures? im busting one case.. and i dont care about Kyrie, we want JLIN7!

  6. are there sold gold 1/1s ? also, will you be doing the diamond cards (like how you got lebron/lillard and duncan) in some of your products in the coming years???

  7. I’m liking the metal cards. This is the next box that I hope to get one day. Will there be any USA basketball cards? Those would be pretty cool inserts.

  8. Pretty stellar gallery, really like the Black Gold set. The Ray Allen metal card is very well done too. Thanks Tracy!
