The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2013-14 Contenders Hockey (129 Images)

Hockey's home of the autographed Rookie Card has undergone an expansion; a staggering, way-better-than-expected upgrade that should make Panini America's 2013-14 Contenders Hockey -- quite possibly the last Contenders Hockey we'll see in quite some time -- a bona fide phenomenon. When the product releases to the hobby one week from today, collectors will notice boxes that promise at least three autographs per box. In reality, most boxes will deliver four -- and two boxes in every 14-box case will deliver eight.

Amid the product’s landmark Rookie Ticket Autographs, abundant parallel roster, sublime booklet autographs and multi-autograph marvels, 2013-14 Contenders Hockey also delivers bonus autographs from past products such as Playbook Hockey and Classics Signatures Hockey.

Much of the brilliance on display in 2013-14 Contenders Hockey is showcased below in the gallery of hits that surfaced during the recent Quality Control process. In fact, here’s just one example of what you might have missed if you weren’t tuned in to Chris Barr’s takeover of the Panini America Twitter account last Friday for live QC updates:

  1. I’ll have to pick up a few boxes of this and other Panini Hockey as a farewell to a brand lost for no good reason at all…

  2. Why did all the pre sale material on all the other card sites say there would be four autos per box already? And if a $20 retail box can have two autos, why spend four times as much on a hobby box for only two more autos?

    1. Retail has a smaller checklist and features retail exclusive players with sticker autographs. Hobby is all on card autographs, and you get a minimum of 4 autos per box. Some boxes have up to 8 per box.

  3. Tracy,
This is the product have waited all year for, and it is stacked. I hope that Panini uses this as a give away coming up in one of their contests. Great work Tracy, I can’t wait until the wait is over.
    Thank you for Contenders!
