If you’ve got your tablet handy (or perhaps an old-school piece of paper and something to write with), grab them and get ready to take notes. I’m going to detail for you the things I absolutely love about Panini America’s upcoming 2013 Absolute Football and, if you’re so inclined, you can jot them down. You ready? Here goes: All of it.

Indeed, after spending most of my Monday morning perusing the shining results of the just-completed Quality Control process, I’m ready to proclaim 2013 Absolute Football an unabashed success. Ultimately, of course, collectors will have the final say on that. But there’s no denying the myriad new-and-improved aspects at play in the newest installment of the historically strong Absolute brand.

From a bold, new base design to new inserts such as Hogg Heaven to the reimagining of key staples such as Tools of the Trade, Rookie Premiere Materials and Absolute Patches, 2013 Absolute Football has a lot to offer longtime Absolute fans and newcomers alike. Oh, it also has the first live autographs of New England Patriots rookie receiver Kenbrell Thompkins, a key addition not lost earlier today on the man himself, who gave us a reTweet on this one:

Trust us, we’re just as excited as he is. In any event, we’ll have plenty more to showcase on 2013 Absolute Football in the next few days leading up to Friday’s release date. But until then, enjoy this comprehensive first look at the fruits of Quality Control:

  1. probably the only cleveland brown jersey card of trent richardson… how about that jerome bettis l.a. rams worn gear card? is that from his rookie year?… that’s crazy. i am always amazed at the art of hunting down these football jerseys and other game worn gear… really nice.!

  2. Tracy, absolute basketball and football have probably been one of my favorite products of the past 3-4 years, but I wasn’t too amazed with last years absolute basketball. Are you guys going to make some strides to make absolute basketball just as good as absolute football this year?
Btw glad to see the pigskin back in the RPA :]

  3. Have gotten some of my most outstanding cards in ABSOLUTE products over the years. I like that you kept the pinched-pack ends look to it. Cool addition of the face mask parts to the TOTT insert line. Definitely like the Team Trios cards!!

  4. I really like the base cards this year, a very bold and confident design.

I don’t love the RPM design this year. It’s not bad I just like the old 2006-10 so much I don’t know if anything can live up to those.

  5. Card design looks great. It is a shame this years rc crop was pretty poor. Boss Hogg cards are a pleasant blast from the past as Donruss did them years ago, nothing new there. Draft ticket autos are nice though are they hard signed or stickers?

  6. Absolute is always like “Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates.” This year, however, the box is Godiva! WOW are the base-card design tweaks & additions off the chain and render this an immediate product of the year contender! The auto’d draft cards & rookie / rare jersey swatches from legends such as Jerome Bettis (that’s a crazy piece!), Jim Kelly (face mask?!?) and loving the Keyshawn Bucc’ swatch. So stoked for this release. My favorite kind of candy.
    Awesome gallery T-Hack! Many thanks.

  7. I think this is a pretty solid release, I love the base card design though I am not big on the name across the chest. It seems off-balance, but otherwise it rocks. I like the insert lineup too, I dig helmet (and facemask) cards.

  8. WOW! TRACY! man i truly enjoy seeing helmet pieces and a variety being brought back! finally! and in a product i can afford. It gets monotonous seeing the same pieces of jersey time and time again.

Must also note unique concept for the base cards this year. HUGE players. I looked the first time and couldn’t decide if I liked it. But after second glance I say yay!
