Panini America's Black Football burst onto the scene late last season amid considerable buzz that was as much a result of compelling content as it was the product's been-there, done-that brand name. But once collectors accepted the name and ventured inside the nuts and bolts of the new release, they found an abundance of dark, decadent aesthetics, rich autograph and memorabilia selections and some of the best-looking cards of the 2012 product season.

One year later, Panini America officials are readying 2013 Black Football for release, and the highly anticipated sequel has improved on last year’s impressive debut with some stunning new additions, including Shadow Box Jersey Autographs, Black Metal Rookies and Black Metal Captains, and autographs of some guy named Richard Sherman (perhaps you’ve heard of him?).
The Panini America NFL brand team conducted Quality Control on the product late last week while may of us were in Los Angeles for the 2014 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Presented By Panini; so imagine our surprise upon returning to the office yesterday to find an appetite-whetting selection of images to share with you in the gallery below.
2013 Black Football began shipping yesterday and will arrive in stores next Wednesday featuring three autographs, two memorabilia cards and one Black Metal card in every 12-card box. Some boxes, however, will deliver four autographs.
We’ll have more coverage on 2013 Black Football in the coming days right here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, sit back, relax and feast on some unadulterated eye candy.
As with other products your team has done, this is one I was looking forward to after last years release. I am excited to see these live and hope to get this product in hand. Great job as always!

Terrific looking product. You guys did good with this one!
Black was outstanding last year and this year looks no different. Love the Black background-makes the pictures and swatches Pop. Those shadowbox cards are going to be great as well! Looking forward to its release!!
I really can’t get over how good this stuff looks. I’m with Jokey on this one, what is the MSRP?
it blows my mind how quickly some of the cards just signed at that rookie event are put into packs & boxes
My thoughts exactly.
Can’t wait to get Dumervil’s first official non-photoshopped Ravens card. Any word on a checklist for Black?
The shadowboxes are amazing! I can’t even tell if they are finger puppet sized jerseys or just an image of a jersey in the backround. Great Job!
hey Tracy. there are a bunch of cards in there i would bet you would love for you’re own collection. WOW! Go Bronco’s, hope they bring it on home for ya.
🙂
I’m a big fan of Black, this stuff looks great. Good to see a Colts 1/1 in the mix too. Thanks Tracy!
not one Bears card, ridiculous once again!
hey Tracy,
Do you know if Wesley Woodyard & Matt Prater will have any autos in upcoming products?
The cards look great again this year. I’m disappointed Panini hasnt brought this brand to basketball. The metal cards look awesome! I wish the autos were gold or silver again though. That was the unique thing that BLACK offered that no other brand had.
I also liked the GOLD ink autos last year as well!!
Those shadowboxes are so cool! I really liked 2012 and this is just as impressive
Tracy, will there be any Chicago Bear auto’s?
Most definitely.
That is a bold, bad-a$$, well-defined product; razor-sharp
