The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2014 Hot Rookies Football (49 Torrid Pics)

Over the weekend, the NBA and NHL crowned their respective champions for the 2014 season, bringing closure to those two seasons -- and officially initiating the full-blown countdown to the start of the 2014 NFL season. In 2014, perhaps more so than in any recent season, 2014 in the NFL will be all about hot rookies. And as a result, later this week, it will be all about Panini America's 2014 Hot Rookies Football, a new hobby-only product built to fan the flames of the considerable hype surrounding this year's draft class -- and then more than live up to it.

Over the weekend, the NBA and NHL crowned their respective champions for the 2014 season, bringing closure to those two seasons — and officially initiating the full-blown countdown to the start of the 2014 NFL season. In 2014, perhaps more so than in any recent season, 2014 in the NFL will be all about hot rookies. And as a result, later this week, it will be all about Panini America’s 2014 Hot Rookies Football, a new hobby-only product built to fan the flames of the considerable hype surrounding this year’s draft class — and then more than live up to it.
The uniquely configured 2014 Hot Rookies Football will deliver four distinct pack types in each four-pack hobby box as well as three autographs and one autograph memorabilia card in every box.

In the gallery below, we offer a brief sampling of just some of the hits that surfaced during last week’s packout process. Each four-pack box will include four distinct pack types:

  • Pack #1 will contain 32 Hot Rookies base cards from the 330-card base set, including at least two cards numbered to 99 or less. (Hot Packs will fall roughly one per case in which all 32 cards will be numbered to 99 or less.)
  • Pack #2 will contain 10 rookies from the highly touted 2014 NFL Draft class, including at least one card numbered to 99 or less. (Hot packs will fall roughly one per case in which all 10 Rookie Cards will be numbered to 99 or less.)
  • Pack #3 will contain five insert cards, including one autographed memorabilia card.
  • Pack #4 will contain three autograph cards.

We’ll have plenty more on 2014 Hot Rookies Football later this week right here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, kickoff your week on the right foot by checking out the spectacular first images of the product.

  1. Looks like a chrome version of Score. Is score going to go the route of Topps with Topps and a month later Topps Chrome? More and more products with more and more sticker autos. Over satiation of product is watering down the hobby.

    1. Agree. I’ll wait to buy my first football box of 2014 as soon as the auto’s are mostly on card. So contenders…..

  2. The new product cuts an interesting profile, possesses what will undoubtedly be a fun break factor, and the various pack-types will invariably manifest…& flourish, on the secondary market.
Nevertheless, if I may be unflinching in my review of the pre-release images, when viewed as a whole the “Hot Rookies” product really looks and “feels like” a compilation of fastidiously packed-out, lower-end parallels (or very similar to) and inserts that hail from products such as Rookies & Stars, Score and Prestige.
It’s impossible to miss with this class; There are just so many talented, and raw but eminently gifted, high-ceiling, athletes at each position…2014 seems destined to be as productive as ’99, ’01 and ’12.
Breathing life into this release is by n a bad thing, but much will hinge upon its MSRP. Soooo, what is the price point, Mr. Hackler?

  3. These are beautiful! Very solid product and cant’ wait! We all know this hobby is about the rookies!
