The venerable Absolute brand has been an NBA staple for years and returns this season bolstered by everything collectors have come to love about the product.

2015-16 Absolute Basketball releases in hobby shops across North America on Friday and features a familiar packaging configuration that delivers one autograph or memorabilia card in every pack and the fabled Tools of the Trade insert chase. Late last week, Panini America officials spent some quality time Quality Controlling the product — and they unearthed some must-see gems along the way.

  1. Socks! Awesome! This is to my knowledge the first time socks have ever been issued as a relic. Will the sock cards actually SAY they are socks? The majority of Panini’s relics leave you guessing as to what the material might be…I am hoping that someday your relics will say “Jersey, warm-up” etc…(now socks!) instead of just “material”.

    The quad and septuple (not sure if that is the right word) relics are some of the more stunning cards I’ve seen in a long while.

    This is the first time EVER in my 27 years in the hobby that I am more excited for inserts than I am base cards. I’ve never been a fan of mirror foil. I still hold that the 2015-16 releases are the best design-wise in the Panini Era.
