The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2015 Certified Football (Must-See Pics)

Panini America's venerable Certified Football franchise has been an early season collecting staple for almost two decades now, a splendidly colorful parallel-lover's dream (Behold . . . The Mirrors!) that has utilized familiar, flashy foilboard as the card stock of choice throughout its history. For 2015, the foilboard returns intact, along with the other franchise niceties that have made Certified so popular -- including Freshman Fabric Autograph Patch Rookie Cards, the fabled Fabric of the Game insert, Gold Team, Certified Skills and more.

For 2015, the foilboard returns intact, along with the other franchise niceties that have made Certified so popular — including Freshman Fabric Autograph Patch Rookie Cards, the fabled Fabric of the Game insert, Gold Team, Certified Skills and more.

But longtime Certified fans will notice a bold, new base design woven throughout the product (something of a geometrical, shard-driven spectacle) that instantly breathes new life into the brand. Something else that instantly breathes new life into the brand? The debut of Panini America’s cross-brand Super Bowl insert featuring on-card autographs from players who’ve played in the NFL’s greatest game.

Each box of 2015 Certified Football will deliver four autograph or memorabilia cards, including one Freshman Fabric Autograph Patch Card. Each 12-box inner case also will include one Hot Box that delivers four autographs, six memorabilia cards and the Hot Box-exclusive Scorching Swatches insert.

In the gallery that follows, we bring you a comprehensive look at some of the cards that surfaced earlier this week during the Quality Control and Packout processes for 2015 Certified Football. Enjoy the gallery and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of Certified, which releases one week from today.

  1. Ahh, Now I understand what Certified means. I stoped collecting back in 1998 and then hold out for 14 years. I know of the Select certified I bought some packs of back in the day. But now I saw that some products got out and continued to be made and this version is based on the Leaf Certified that come out in 1999, after I stoped collecting. I learn a bit every day. I like a product that has a strong heritage. I guess I have still alot to learn.

  2. Did they discontinue the Certified Freshman Fabric Black and Emerald/Green this year? No 1/1’s or 1/5’s? This is not the same product that was a staple for years. The background design needed an upgrade. However, Certified will always be the Quad’s and NFL logo cards. That, along with the Fabric of the Game with player numbers, are Certified.

They’re killing this product for me. I’ve gone from buying cases to boxes and a few singles the last 2 years. In 2013, the excuse was a weak rookie class to explain poor sells. In 2014, Panini points was the excuse and players people wanted not getting packed out (along with a crowded market).

No one acknowledges design failures as reasons for poor sells and why you can get these boxes so cheaply after initial release. No one opens enough to even find the singles to complete a set any more.

I will give this one final try. I hope Panini realizes they are losing longstanding and loyal customers like me! To prove my point, I have nearly completed sets of Gold and Emerald Freshman Fabric Auto sets from 2008-2012. I also have accumulated 60 +Freshman Fabric Black autos from 2010-2012.

I just needed t o express my despair.

    1. Mel,

I totally understand how you feel when you have collected something for sooo long and then its no longer made one year. I try to see the progression of a product and understand that the companies have to move forward at some point to prevent stagnation. I haven’t collected the entire emerald sets like you have but I’m excited about the Scorching Swatches. Those will be pretty challenging to collect since they only come in Hot Boxes. It does look like the Freshman Fabrics range greatly in production numbers from 799 all the way down to 10. No color variance that i can see tho. Good Luck to you!

      1. Actually if i would have looked at the header pic more closely there is a color variance to the freshman fabric just no emerald that i can see. Who knows, if there is a retail product of it this year, maybe emerald will be in that.

      2. I understand not wanting a product to go stagnant. That isn’t my complaint. There are different characteristics of each product that made them identifiable and distinct. If you saw a Fabric of the Game or Freshman Fabruc card for any year, you knew it was Certified. The same could be said for Elite. Even UD’s SP Authentic has a look that is its own.

Fabric of the Game essentially turned into Limited and Totally Certified. Freshman Fabric is like every other product now.

Think of it like the auto maker FORD. Many different models out there and design modifications to keep it fresh. Despite all of that, a MUSTANG is still identifiable as a MUSTANG. Too many changes and it’s no longer a Mustang! It’s a different car…:
