The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2015 Diamond Kings Baseball (114 Pics)

The more collectors see of the triumphantly returning 2015 Diamond Kings Baseball, it seems, the more excited they become. That momentum began to build in earnest last week, when Panini America officials shared the first glimpses of the packout process. On Sunday, it gained more steam with a detailed examination of the set's spectacular mini cards. Today, we plan to elevate the anticipation level even more with a comprehensive Quality Control Gallery.

The more collectors see of the triumphantly returning 2015 Diamond Kings Baseball, it seems, the more excited they become. That momentum began to build in earnest last week, when Panini America officials shared the first glimpses of the packout process. On Sunday, it gained more steam with a detailed examination of the set’s spectacular mini cards. Today, we plan to elevate the anticipation level even more with a comprehensive Quality Control Gallery.

Set to release one week from tomorrow, the first standalone Diamond Kings release in 10 years delivers a stirring artistic tribute to the game’s greatest legends, biggest current stars and hottest rookies with a product that’s as rich in autograph and memorabilia content as it is in design and aesthetics. Of course, having the original diamond king — the legendary Babe Ruth — on board to help reintroduce this collecting classic doesn’t hurt, either.

We’ll have more on the Babe’s profound presence in 2015 Diamond Kings Baseball soon enough. But for now, grab a comfortable vantage point and enjoy this extended sneak peek. Somewhere amid the 114 images that follow, you’re bound to fall in love at least twice.

  1. I’m the first to call out Panini or Topps for over hyping and pumping out just plain awful cards at outrageous prices.

    BBBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This product is looking dam good and at $80 at a reasonable price. Plus I’ve see some really high end patches that are not the same boring looking single color ones that show up for some reason in high end products. Sure there are some autos of players that I’ve never heard of and that will be cheap $.99 on ebay, but there are also some current and HOF autos in a $80 product.

Hope Panini pumps out more products like these than compared to giving me my Marcus Stroman and Chris Owings auto that for some reason fell in every Panini product I bought this year. Really how many autos did you have those guys sign???? Cap your autos to 600, no need for anymore than that REALLY.

  2. THAT is a VERY nice product, very, VERY nice lineup of inserts, parallels, autos and memorabilia.
It’s very easy to get excited about National Treasures, Flawless and Immaculate, as they’re Ultra-high end products and look every inch the part. But to assemble a product with a $75 MSRP that looks as fine as DK does? That’s a product that every collector can get behind. Very well done….with a really intriguing checklist. Can’t wait!

  3. What a gorgeous product! Panini you have made me a believer, and at an affordable price. The base cards are simply astonishing! For a retail price of 75-90 a box, I can afford to splurge on two!

  4. With no hobby stores around, but with multiple Target stores nearby, I am stupefied to try to understand how a $75.00 a box product would only be hobby based- yet you sell $200.00 boxes of BASKETBALL cards through the Target chains. Please help me with this one, Tracy!

    1. Our Target-exclusive NBA products include just three brands this season. Both Prestige and Threads have done quite well so far and we have similar high hopes for our final Target-exclusive release. Of course, there are three different SKUs for each of the Target releases that appeal to different types of consumers. You hit on one of the key benefits of the program in your opening sentence. You have no hobby stores around you but have the ability to get a “hobby” product at Target. Not sure if I addressed your specific concerns, but would welcome your feedback.

      1. Thanks for replying, Tracy. Outside of Prism, you offer NO blaster boxes for the public in your other baseball products. That includes, Heroes of the Game, Donruss-and especially Diamond Kings. I suggest-as a teacher who teaches students who LOVE collecting sports cards, that you become more open to including Blaster Boxes with your products. I KNOW that you would sell a ton of Diamond King products, because the paintings look is what the kids like-and buy!

        1. Hi David. Likewise, I’m a
Youth Services librarian and run a number of programs I base upon the values on card backs.
I go out and purchase the cards for such events and while the kids I run programming for love collecting, I can’t ask them to provide their own cards nor can I afford to buy Hobby for such initiatives.
Therefore, Hackler, Im in complete agreement with David regarding the need for an increase in the products available in Blaster-Box.
Enjoy DK David, looks like a super sharp product!

  5. Man these are super nice!! I might have to dip into some baseball this year! I’m a marginal fan at best but i used to be a faithful. It feels like baseball is gonna be different this year.

  6. Good looking product. It’s all about having good looking base cards and this one nails them

  7. I have to say, I am truly impressed by this year Diamond Kings. EVERYTHING about this set is awesome. I love everything you did with this product this year from the base cards to the jersey’s/auto’s and combos let alone including the Sultan Of Swat! Absolutely has to be THE Product of the year to purchase. I’m hoping to be able to get at least one box on my limited income. Thanks Tracy for the Preview Review!
