It’s hard for something to rise from the ashes like a phoenix if it’s never existed before, so Panini America’s upcoming 2016 Phoenix Football may at first glance seem to have a peculiar name. But make no mistake about it, the new product should ascend just fine, based largely on the heat it generates with unique printing technology, low-numbered chase elements and a stacked roster of rookie and veteran autograph and memorabilia content.
Set to arrive in hobby shops across North America on Wednesday, 2016 Phoenix Football places a premium on almost-hypnotic visual effects and designs that take full advantage of them. On average, each hobby box (five cards per pack, 12 packs per box) will deliver two autographs (including one Rookie Jersey Autograph numbered to 249 or less) and one memorabilia card numbered to 79 or less. In addition, each hobby box will yield at least six Rookie Cards and nine parallels or inserts.

Collectors can also hunt for Dual- and Triple-Patch Autographs of key 2016 rookies numbered to 20 or less. We’ll have plenty more on the inaugural edition of Phoenix Football next week. But for now, make time in your Friday to feast on the revealing images that follow in the Quality Control Gallery.
