It’s hard to believe more than a year has passed since Panini America ignited the “Great Gold Rush of 2010” with the release of the groundbreaking Golden Tickets 14kt gold trading cards that were inserted into 2010 Playoff Contenders Football.
That product launched a still-ongoing international mining expedition that carried over into hockey (2010-11 Playoff Contenders) and basketball (2010-11 Gold Standard). But a new hunt began recently with the release of 2011 Playoff Contenders Football and a whole new array of Black Golden Tickets currently creating considerable buzz in the collecting universe.
What follows is the list of the 2011 Playoff Contenders Football Black Golden Tickets that have been redeemed so far through the Panini America system, and exactly where they’re headed. It’s worth noting that — once again this season — many of the 52 new cards have sold on the secondary market for well more than $1,000, including Arian Foster, Aaron Rodgers, Jake Locker and Colin Kaepernick.

What an excellent promotion, the cards are amazing. Great idea with the map as well, good to see my home state of CT represented. Congrats to everyone who has found one already and to everyone who will!
First off, Wow!!!! Those are golden!! Some sweet Stuff Panini!
Secondly, if we find one, did you guys secretly hire Willy Wonka to give us a tour of Panini Headquarters? Would be a pretty sweet experience! Justin Bieber as the door greeter into the land of Panini. Walls made of cards. Chairs made from Game worn Jerseys. Employees talking cards and busting wax making Panini Unwrapped videos, and a golden walkway throughout the building til you get to the end of the walkway leading into Tracy Hackler’s office where he has athletes waiting to sign any form of autograph you want. Who wouldn’t want to find a ticket. And you don’t have to eat chocolate and get fat to do so 🙂
