It doesn't happen often, but there are times when I see something so utterly spectacular that it renders me virtually speechless; literally without the words to adequately describe the abundant beauty before me.
It doesn’t happen often, but there are times when I see something so utterly spectacular that it renders me virtually speechless; literally without the words to adequately describe the abundant beauty before me.
It happened on my wedding day almost 16 years ago. It happened again Thursday.
To be sure, nothing that I’ve ever encountered in my 34 years as a collector could’ve prepared me for the tongue-tying, Technicolor wizardry of witnessing every prime memorabilia card in 2010-11 National Treasures Basketball stacked majestically on two sprawling tables inside the Panini America printing facility, ready for the hand-collation process that will send to the gems to their final destination.
I only hope that the following images and behind-the-scenes video detailing the hand-collation process can compensate for my wordless wonderment. A word of caution: You may want to grab a seat now. The scenes that follow are graphic in nature and may leave you feeling faint.
D: When #39 pops up on E-bay its going to cost me a small fortune 🙁
Unreal!!!!!! Thanks for the sneak peak!!!!
Cheers
Matt
I’VE BEEN COLLECTING BASKETBALL SINCE THE BIRD/MAGIC ROOKIE YEAR AND TO SEE HOW FAR THE HOBBY HAS COME IS INCREDIBLE. BEING THOSE GUYS IN THE VIDEO WOULD BE MY DREAM JOB. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK PANINI!!!
Very sweet!! thanks for sharing!!
Sick!
*gasp* *gasp* Face melting beauty right there. Seriously! Sublime swatches, criminally-beautiful cards. Another spectacular product for this fine 50th-anniversary!
Looks to be even better than last year. My customers want me to order all I can get!
Wow, some nice cards. I guess the better half is a “treasure” as well? 🙂
I think so. 🙂
they should really be wearing some type of gloves or something.
This should be getting white glove treatment! Beautiful. What would the wife say comparing this to your wedding day though? 😉
Hopefully she doesn’t see it. 🙂
wow. love the olajuwon and that al horford is sick too! hey Tracey, i was just reading through a beckett from september ’95 and saw i little piece you wrote. thanks for being so cool!
Hey, thanks, man. I appreciate the kind words.
Awesome stuff Panini…just left a puddle of drool on my floor
Wow, these are amazing! So glad you guys do the NBA cards!
The lebron gold card has surfaced $7,500
Wow. I’ll have to track that one down. Got a link?
Keith left Beckett to collate?
And a few other things.
Funny!
Great stuff! I’m hearing rumors that we may be giving away a box of Treasures? Is that true??? People are going to go crazy!!! Don’t tell me yet…
Usually when you guys release pics of NT I just sift through the thumbnails and rightclick+tab any good looking cards for a bigger pic. For this series I ended up right clicking almost ALL of them. Tracy I have a question, what’s that material on that Horford card?
Also Tracy did you know one of the solid gold cards for Gold Standard has been pulled? It was caught live from Truth17’s case break, I’m sure you’ve heard of him from Youtube. It was the John Stockton one.
How does a person come about getting a job like that? That would be freaking sweet to have that job.
O_______O!! Jaw-dropping images!
Is Melo gonna be on Knicks jersey ?
Yes, sir.
Sweet ! ty, sir.
Hey Tracy, are you guys going to do that promotion again during last year’s Nationals Thursday and Friday just after it opens where If you get a National Treasures Box and you present it at the Panini Booth, you get a chance to draw for a NBA Rookie Draft item from that years Rookie Class. I remember being it very limited.
Hey, Thomas. Those who break National Treasures will receive more wrapper redempotion packs — and more chances to win the autographed memorabilia we’ve randomly inserted — via redemption card — into the redemption packs.
