On an electric Thursday night in early September, Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos hosted the Baltimore Ravens to kick off the 2013 NFL season in a rematch of last season's classic AFC Divisional Playoff game. Last January, the Ravens stunned the favored Broncos -- and seemingly the entire country -- to advance to the AFC Championship Game and, ultimately, to the Super Bowl. Of course, that was before Wes Welker arrived in the Rocky Mountains to wreak his own unique brand of havoc on opposing defenses.
On an electric Thursday night in early September, Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos hosted the Baltimore Ravens to kick off the 2013 NFL season in a rematch of last season’s classic AFC Divisional Playoff game. Last January, the Ravens stunned the favored Broncos — and seemingly the entire country — to advance to the AFC Championship Game and, ultimately, to the Super Bowl. Of course, that was before Wes Welker arrived in the Rocky Mountains to wreak his own unique brand of havoc on opposing defenses.
All Welker did in his first regular-season game with the Broncos was catch a game-high nine passes, including two of Manning’s record-tying seven touchdown passes, to help the Broncos best the Ravens, 49-27. Welker scored twice in a span of four minutes in the third quarter to break open a close game. His first touchdown grab — a 5-yarder — put Denver up, 28-17. His second — a 2-yarder — extended Denver’s lead to 35-17.
The fact that Welker had in a hand — both hands, actually — in Manning’s seven touchdown passes that night (the first time in 44 years that had happened) makes his first game-worn Denver Broncos jersey something of a history-maker. It is filthy. It is fantastic. And it’s available now through Panini Authentic, the exclusive provider of Denver Broncos game-worn memorabilia.
As you can see in the image above and in the images below, the bright-orange gamer exhibits Welker’s trademark brand of extreme game use. You can get all the details on this true piece of NFL history at the Panini Authentic web site; while you’re there, be sure to check out the other pieces of Broncos history available.
Man, if only I had 8 thousand dollars…
How did this not end up in the Hackler house already??? Thanks Tracy!
That’s what I want to know!
I only see 9 things on the Broncos page. Don’t you guys have more stuff from them? Is it just jerseys or do you have stuff like helmets, cleats, pants and gloves too?
Just talked to Brian Bayne, who runs Panini Authentic. He’s going to load more items soon — if he hasn’t already.
Sounds good. Thanks Tracy!
Are you guys Broncos exclusive or do you get things from all teams?
We have game-worn memorabilia deals in place with several NFL teams, but the Broncos is one of our exclusive teams.
Oh ok, and what a great team to have as an exclusive, those Peyton Manning jerseys will be a hot commodity.
%$#*&^@$%#&*!^*(@%!
New England could use him
Are you wearing this at the office today?
Ha!
Wes Welker will be the difference maker for the Broncos when Denver faces the Pats.
