‘Whose Autographs Arrived Today?’ Another Can’t-Miss Panini America Contest.
Think you know autographs? We’re about to find out. But first, a little background.
The almost-daily “autos in house” emails from our very own Rosalinda Rios represent arguably the most anticipated and enlightening pieces of interoffice communication that many of us receive on a regular basis. As the title of their subject line suggests, Rios’ late-morning e-missives provide a complete rundown of certified autographs — cards, stickers, patches, leather pieces, you name it — that have been returned to Panini America headquarters (sworn affidavits in tow) on any given day.
To be sure, her messages are bona fide must-reads every time, but Tuesday’s featured a particularly vast and varied checklist of superstars from the worlds of basketball, football, hockey and entertainment. So after Rios logged them in to the system, I darted to the back corner of the building to take a firsthand look at the day’s arrivals.
Some signatures were immediately recognizable (Bill Russell and Lamar Odom were gimmes for obvious reasons). Others were not. And that’s when it occurred to me that all this hand-signed history was perfect fodder for a contest.
Below are 12 mostly unidentified autographs that arrived on Tuesday and are slated for inclusion in future Panini America products. Your job is to identify them.
Simply provide your answers as a comment to this post. We’ll give contestants a week to respond and the person who identifies the most autographs correctly will win a Panini prize package that includes three certified autograph trading cards (one each from the NFL, NBA and NHL) and a box of 2010 Panini America trading cards.
(In the event of a tie, one winner will be drawn at random from all correct entrants. We’ll wait until the contest ends to approve all of the entries and select the winner; no need to let everyone see everyone else’s answers.)
So, you think you know autographs? Let’s see . . . and good luck.
