Panini America 2017 Donruss Optic Baseball QC Gallery14

All rise. This Quality Control Gallery is now in session. The honorable — and ridiculously hard-hitting — Aaron Judge will be presiding over much of today’s proceedings. Indeed, the presence of the pinstriped powerbroker’s potent penmanship in Panini America’s live-tomorrow 2017 Donruss Optic Baseball is reason enough for this exploratory journey into the highly anticipated release. And while Judge is a big reason (no pun intended) for all of the excitement, 2017 Donruss Optic Baseball also features the fabled hobby return of the legendary Mickey Mantle.

Of course, Mantle and Judge only add to the aura that has surrounded the Optic brand since its triumphant debut last season. In the months since, the Optic revolution has permeated Panini America’s NFL and NBA product portfolios with similar success. But the product releasing tomorrow could be the brand’s most powerful iteration yet.

The impetus for Optic’s origin was simple enough: Take Panini America’s flagship brand — Donruss — and bolster it with one of its most popular technologies — the Optichrome-fueld Prizm. The results, as you’ll see once again this year, are as captivating as they are colorful.

On average, each hobby box of 2017 Donruss Optic Baseball (four cards per pack, 20 packs per box) will deliver two autographs and 25 inserts or Prizm parallels. We appropriately leadoff the following gallery with a bevy of on-card Judges. But you’ll find that 2017 Donruss Optic Baseball is about so much more. It’s about The Mick, obviously; and quirky variations . . . the hottest rookies . . . The Famous San Diego Chicken . . . a rainbow array of chase options . . . a bevy of on-card autographs . . . and, well, here, see for yourself (and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional coverage):

Optic is a tremendous program, love the technology and photography fused into the final product. Thanks Tracy!
