It’s the fusion that continues to fascinate. Panini America’s recent penchant for melding its wildly popular Prizm technology with the traditional and non-Prizm Donruss has led to the creation of the highly popular Donruss Optic franchise that wasted precious little time making its presence felt in baseball, football and basketball. That captivating concoction is about to do it again. In early April, the second annual installment of Donruss Optic Basketball will arrive in hobby shops across North America intent on honoring the spectacular 2017 NBA Draft class while riding the wave of Optic-mania.

On average, each hobby box of 2017-18 Donruss Optic Basketball (four cards per pack, 20 packs per box, 12 boxes per case) will deliver one autograph and 20 inserts or parallels. The product boasts a bevy of colorful Prizm parallels including the rare Gold Vinyl 1/1s, and exciting new Velocity Pink and Velocity Black.

The highlights of 2017-18 Donruss Optic Basketball are many and include . . .

  • Collect the incredibly talented 2017 NBA Draft class with the introduction of on-card Rated Rookie Signatures featuring hobby-exclusive Holo, Blue (numbered to 49), Gold (numbered to 10), Green (numbered to five) and Gold Vinyl 1/1s parallels.
  • Autograph inserts including Hall Dominators, Rookie Dominators, Dominators and Signature Series.
  • Retooled inserts include Retro Series, All-Clear for Takeoff, Swishful Thinking; returning inserts include The Champ is Here, The Rookies and All-Stars.

I’ve had the hardest time getting my hands on Prizm. Hopefully, Optic will be easier.
