Aaron Rodgers Golden Ticket Surfaces . . . Bidding Already Surpasses $1,400

It's fitting, really, that the first 2010 Playoff Contenders Golden Ticket 1/1 to hit the open market yesterday, just hours after the product released, was that of Green Bay Packers quarterback and Super Bowl XLV MVP Aaron Rodgers.

It’s fitting, really, that the first 2010 Playoff Contenders Golden Ticket 1/1 to hit the open market yesterday, just hours after the product released, was that of Green Bay Packers quarterback and Super Bowl XLV MVP Aaron Rodgers.

After all, Rodgers was nothing short of solid gold all season long. And judging by the incredibly ascending prices being bid on his winning Golden Ticket redemption card right now, Rodgers is also about to make somebody a whole lot of green.

As of last night, the high bid on that card stood at $800. Turns out that was nothing but chump change. This afternoon, on the strength of 36 bids, the card had skyrocketed to $1,475 — with still more than four days remaining in the auction.

Talk about your Lambeau leaps.

It seems that the man who has raised the bar for all NFL quarterbacks is about the set do the same for the value of Panini America‘s landmark Golden Tickets. The industry’s first 14-karat gold trading cards — each made with 11 grams of real gold — helped fuel the tangibly thick anticipation for the release of 2010 Playoff Contenders — and the absolute feeding frenzy that has ensued since.

Stay tuned . . .

  1. Unbelievably AWESOME. I just got my box of Contenders today and about 15 minutes before opening it I saw the Rodgers was already claimed. 🙁 Still had a blast opening my box. I commented in your First Look video about the Bradford and raved about the impressive look BEFORE seeing my box live in person. Now I’ve gotta say this product is hands down THE product of the year so far. Excellent bang for the buck and just an all around beauty. I’m already saving up for box # 2… then 3 🙂

    Cheers!
