NEW YORK — Last night’s riveting first round of the 2011 NFL Draft paved the way for a productive start to Friday for Panini America, on location at the W Hotel in Times Square for the second annual NFL PLAYERS Rookie Debut.

Earlier this morning, first-round picks Prince Amukamara (No. 19 overall to the New York Giants) and Cameron Jordan (No. 24 overall to the New Orleans Saints) — along with Kansas State running back Daniel Thomas and UCLA safety Rahim Moore — made their way to the Panini Player Lounge for photographs, interviews and a few autographs.

Interesting tidbits learned so far today:

  • Amukamara is thrilled to be playing in New York and was a huge Pokemon collector as a kid
  • One of Jordan’s favorite cards growing up? A holographic Shawn Kemp basketball card.
  • Upon seeing his first officially licensed NFL Rookie Card coming in 2011 Prestige Football, Jordan said: “I like it. I’m definitely a fan of it.”

  1. Reading that Amukamara was a Pokemon fan just reminds me of how old I’m getting. That would put him right around my youngest brothers age. CHARIZARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
