Recapping the Successful 2010-11 NHL Player of the Day Hobby Shop Promotion

More than 250 hobby shops across the USA and Canada participated in the 2010-11 Panini NHL Player of the Day hobby shop promotion. Much like its sister program in the NFL, the first NHL hobby shop promotion has been a tremendous success.

More than 250 hobby shops across the USA and Canada participated in the 2010-11 Panini NHL Player of the Day hobby shop promotion.  Much like its sister program in the NFL, the first NHL hobby shop promotion has been a tremendous success.

As the NHL Playoffs come to an end shortly with the hoisting of the Stanley Cup by either Vancouver or Boston/Tampa Bay, we are also planning to hand out a big prize by selecting the Grand Prize winner of the Panini NHL Player of the Day National Sweepstakes.  One lucky collector will get the chance to spend the day with an NHL player including a private party at his home and a free autograph session for the entire community at his local hobby shop.

So be sure to check The Knight’s Lance for details about the grand prize winner and event within the next week. For more info on the promotion, visit www.nhlpod.com

We also want to thank ALL of the hobby shops who hosted the promotion and all of the collectors who participated.  The first year of any promotion is not without a few bumps and bruises, so thanks for sticking with us. We received some great feedback and we will utilize that feedback to make next year better.

To those shops that did not have a chance to participate this season, don’t despair because we hope to expand the promotion to include more shops next year.

Here’s a look at some of the highlights of the 2010-11 Panini NHL Player of the Day Hobby shop promotion.

  1. This was a great promotion for the fans. It is always fun to have one more ‘chase’ card in each pack. Great prizes all around, though I do think I felt a little frustration from my local shop owner about it. I am sure it is something that can get ironed out with next year’s version. Great job Panini, glad to have participated and love my Jeff Skinner auto. You know how to pick great prizes!

  2. that first pic thats from collector’s heaven is in manchester nh, not vt. i know cuz thats my local shop and i was in the shop when that pic was taken. i hope this contest goes again next year cuz i found out about it two weeks before it was to end.

  3. Thanks for running this great program. My customers are hoping that you’ll change the NBA Starting Five into the Player Of The Day as well. You didn’t announce the National Grand Prize or Grand Prize Winner. Can you tell us the name of the winning store, customer & prize?

    1. Great idea and something we have discussed. The Grand Prize will be announced soon, stay tuned for more details.
