In the world of sports cards, we throw the word “hero” around quite a bit as a way to describe those players whose mesmerizing actions on the field, court or ice capture our imagination and keep us collecting. Then there are those real-life heroes — firefighters, police officers, first responders and the men and women of the United States military who risk life and limb every day to protect us, to rescue us, to ensure our freedoms.
That’s the kind of hero Brian Kolfage is, and the reason he’s making his trading card debut this weekend inside Panini America’s 2013 Father’s Day set.
Kolfage is authoring one of the greatest comeback stories any sports fan has ever witnessed. He’s a living example of bravery, determination, motivation and never giving up.
