Panini America’s venerable Certified Football franchise is evolving right before our very eyes. And the evolution is one collectors will instantly recognize — and appreciate — when 2013 Certified Football arrives in hobby shops in late September.

For starters, there’s a fresh face lift on the brand’s calling-card Freshman Fabric RCs. There’s the addition of base Rookie Card counterparts (without autographs or memorabilia) for the 40 players who attended the 2013 NFLPA Rookie Premiere. There’s the glorious expansion of last year’s jumbo-memorabilia tribute to the NFL’s greatest players that began with Elway Collection and will continue in 2013 by honoring two of the greatest running backs of all time: Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith. Oh, there’s more.

There’s the existence of three Hot Boxes per 24 box case (one in each eight-box inner case) that will replace every base card with special Platinum parallel versions. Certified’s trademark Fabric of the Game insert returns in all of its glory, as do the staple Mirror parallels with Red, Blue, Gold, Emerald and Black versions numbered from 250 all the way down to 1.

Each box of 2013 Certified Football will deliver four autograph or memorabilia cards (at least one autograph guaranteed) and three Mirror parallels.

We’ll have much more on one of the football hobby’s longest-running, best-selling brands in the coming weeks right here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, enjoy this fascinating first look at the product.

  1. This is my favorite product every year, very exciting to see these changes and improvements. I especially like the inclusion of the non-auto/mem rookies for the premiere attendees, I thought that was something that was lacking in year’s past. Thanks Tracy!

  2. 2012 Panini Certified was my very first purchase of a football hobby box! I absolutely enjoyed collecting football cards this late in my life at the young age of 46. After seeing the examples above of 2013 Panini Certified, I will definately look forward in obtainig a hobby box this year. I do have a question for you Tracy? Is Panini releasing a 2013 Panini Black football cards? This product became my standard as well as the industry standard in my humble opinion! Any information pertaining to 2013 Panini Black would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced!

  3. This is a product, imo has needed a much needed make over for years. Ever since low numbered parallels have showed up more often and has totally decrease who whole excitement of getting a 1/1, Fleer showcase and Leaf certified back in 2002 was when i pulled my 1st 1/1’s (same store and 2 days apart) anyway, back to topic. with every product now having these low numbered cards, it hurt the excitement of certified. I hope there is more to come with certified, has always been one of my favorite products, just has felt like it has needed a total revamp.

  4. About what do you think a master case will run? With my new job I could save up the money for this easily by September and I’ve never busted a case of Certified before. Looks gorgeous!

  5. Anything with Barry and Emmitt patches, like those pictured, is worth going after. Can’t wait to see more!

  6. i SO look forward to certified every year…when fortune shines down maybe i can one day open a personal case

  7. I know this is just the mockup and first look at Certified but I was just wondering, are the freshman fabrics going to be on-card like 2011 or sticker autos like they were last year.
