Panini America’s high-end Noir Basketball brand made a somewhat mysterious debut on the NBA trading card landscape last season, hitting the market shrouded in an air of mystique. In pretty short order, though, collectors came to embrace the product as much for its sublime aesthetics as for its robust roster of autograph and memorabilia content.

For the highly anticipated follow-up release, 2015-16 Noir Basketball, Panini America officials have altered the release date (slated to release in late April) but kept many of Noir’s more compelling components. On average, each 12-card box of 2015-16 Noir Basketball will deliver seven autograph or memorabilia cards. For additional details, keep reading.

  • For the first time ever in Noir, the product features NBA Championship tags, sure to be one of the season’s most sought-after memorabilia chases. Each card pays tribute to the featured franchise’s championship legacy with the Larry O’Brien Trophy patch showcased prominently on the back of every jersey.
  • Noir allows collectors the option to collect their favorite rookies by offering two versions of each — both Color and Black and White.
  • Noir Basketball presents unique designs along with star-studded autograph checklists that showcase rookies, veterans and retired players numbered from 99 all the way down to only one.
  • Look for some of the year’s most uniquely designed autograph and memorabilia cards in Noir, featuring swatches ranging from jerseys to patches to tags, and limited from 99 copies all way down to only one.

  1. I really liked the “black and white” look of the overall product. I thought the (roughly) $900 release price was way over the top and getting any sense of value from a box was elusive.
