Panini Peek: 2010-11 Classics Basketball

January 11, 2011

A nifty everything-old-is-new-again design and the presence of autographs from some of the greatest hoops heroes of all time — both retired legends and active superstars — should serve 2010-11 Classics Basketball extremely well when it returns to enchant the collecting masses in late March.

This season’s installment of Classics carries a $6 pack price and delivers two autographs (including at least one signed-on-card Rookie Card numbered to 699 or less), two memorabilia cards, one Legend (numbered to 999) and at least 12 inserts per box when it arrives March 23.

Other highlights from the product (which includes 100 base cards, 40 Legends and 40 autographed Rookie Cards) include . . .

  • At least one autograph per case from a checklist that includes Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Blake Griffin, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jerry West, Bill Walton, Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans, Amar’e Stoudemire and John Wall.
  • The return of collector-favorite insert sets such as Significant Signatures (numbered to 99 or less), Classic Combos Jerseys Prime and Blast from the Past Signature Jerseys (numbered to 25 or less).

“The Classic Moments insert is my favorite because the set highlights some of the outstanding accomplishments in the game of basketball,” says David Porter, Panini America Basketball Brand Manager. “From Wilt’s 100-point effort in 1962 to Blake Griffin scoring 20 points in his NBA debut this season, classic NBA moments come to life in this insert.”
