In fact, some of the SP Autos are fetching considerable dollars on the secondary market prompting a very special edition of the PPI.

Along with a list of NBA Hoops Basketball short print autos released on the Knight’s Lance, sports blogger Bob D’Angelo from Tampa Bay Online did a fine job outlining the chase component and difficulty putting together the full set. You can read Bob’s article here

While NBA Hoops collectors have not realized the kind of profits that 2011-12 Preferred Basketball yielded, at $2/pack hobby and $1/pack retail, the return on their investment still has been impressive. Take for instance the sale of Kevin Love’s NBA Hoops SP Autograph which sold for $300 recently, or the Derrick Rose NBA Hoops SP Autograph which chimed in at $232.49. And while Jeremy Lin’s NBA Hoops Autograph (not a short print) didn’t win anyone lottery type of loot, it still garnered a respectable $200.

But perhaps the best example of NBA Hoops hysteria can be found in the winning bid of $172.02 for a Ryan Gomes SP Autograph. The Los Angeles Clippers’ small forward played in just 32 games last season. Gomes’ PPI indicator is staggering when you compare the value of his autograph in 2010-11 Season Update which sold for a meager 99 cents.

Below you’ll find a delectable gallery of some of the hottest selling 2011-12 NBA Hoops SP Autographs. Happy hunting!

    1. and thats only if u get a decent one….. how bout the box busts that give you a xavier mcdaniels, a crappy guy from the 90’s, and a redemption card that u wont even see for 8 months………Still my opinion that black box was one of the worst products ever!!

      1. I agree Black box was a horrible product. When you break the product you pray that you don’t get a cheap logo-man manufactured card. Even watching this month’s (June) Panini Hit video, Chris even comments about the logo-man. As soon as you see the fatty it’s like a death sentence.

  1. I think that Beckett sometimes under prices alot of cards and over look many talented players! I think that whats going on here is that people dont always care about the price of a card, and that people are more interested in the art of the card! Also i feel that collectors are looking for the player that they collect and when they find that player there willing to pay more for the card then the price liste due to the fact that the card listed worth more to them personally!!! This is great for Trading cards cause it shows that people dont care about a price tag, they care about the art!!!

    1. Other factors play just as big of a role in how well a card sells. THE BIGGEST, is if the autograph is “ON CARD”? Collectors and flippers both will spend a premium amount over a sticker auto. Other important factors are the player, position, and prospect. Vince Carter for example has a cult following, Beckett never values his cards correctly because VC collectors don’t care what it is, they will purchase it. Only series collectors care about design and art, however, they typically purchase after the prices fall because no one will pay overpriced value for a base card.

  2. That Kevin Love sale was mine and I can say the buyer paid for it right away, do it is a legit sale. The guy that bought it is going after the set

  3. I was surprised to see the Kobe autos coming out as “sticker” autos. I thought Panini, back when they signed Kobe, said his autos would ALWAYS be on-card. He’s one of their main spokesmen, for cryin’ out loud and even with 4 different cards being auto’d by him in the 200 card set, they’re all listed as “25 or less”…so we’re talkin’ about only 100 or less cards to sign. Come on Panini.

  4. wow i cant believe that kevin love nba hoops auto sold for even more then bryant,i had it and i sold it for 50$ it was my first ebay sale,i was happy cause i know how low the autos was selling, now i regret selling it for 50$ :(.

  5. i bought the carmelo anthony for $90 and sold it for $350
i bought the chris bosh for $69.99 and sold it for $150
i bought a kevin durant for $175 and sold it for $400

This set had a ton of short prints in it the james harden was a 1/1

Panini should have not made it a 1/1

1/1 means only one set can ever be complete

alot of of people stop to think “Can I ever make half of the set”

I still own one carmelo anthony that i am going to put on ebay in a week or so

i have 30 plus other sp’s in this set
