The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2013-14 Innovation Basketball (99 Pics)

There are certain aspects of the Innovation Basketball franchise that needed just one season to make an impact with collectors. So although last season's 2012-13 Innovation Basketball was a brand new entry on the NBA trading card landscape, a few key elements from that inaugural launch quickly developed an ardent following -- chiefly the beautiful Stained Glass insert, and the View and Rookie View base cards and the Stat Line game-dated, game-worn memorabilia cards.

There are certain aspects of the Innovation Basketball franchise that needed just one season to make an impact with collectors. So although last season’s 2012-13 Innovation Basketball was a brand new entry on the NBA trading card landscape, a few key elements from that inaugural launch quickly developed an ardent following — chiefly the beautiful Stained Glass insert, and the View and Rookie View base cards and the Stat Line game-dated, game-worn memorabilia cards.
So it should come as no surprise that when 2013-14 Innovation Basketball releases across North America tomorrow, it will do so proudly packing new-look iterations of Stained Glass, View, Rookie View and Stat Line. But it also will deliver some exciting new inserts — such as the one-per-case Kaboom! cards and the good-looking Main Exhibit shadow-box autographs.

Each six-card box of 2013-14 Innovation Basketball will deliver two autographs, one memorabilia card, one Stained Glass card and one View or Rookie View card. In the Quality Control Gallery that follows, we provide a quick visual sampling of just about everything the product has to offer. Enjoy the gallery and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage.

  1. The Julius Erving auto looks awesome!
Good looking cards, except the starters legends card, sorry but for me it is strange, it looks like they were beheaded.
Is the jersey piece from that game what is written on the Stat Line cards?

  2. I loved the inserts in Innovation last year and they are back again looking even better. Really some unique stuff that you can’t find in other products.

  3. Innovation is looking good so far, I like what I see especially the jumbo RC mem cards towards the end of the gallery. Are there prime variations to those? Thanks Tracy!

  4. For being labeled Innovation, there’s not a lot here that hasn’t been done before…even the cloud background on what appears to be the base cards done on clear plastic was done in 1996-97. I do love the Stat Line concept. I always thought the relic cards would have been much more interesting if we knew exactly where/when they were worn. I cannot possibly afford to get a boxpack of these, but I’ll try to pick up one of the Stat Line inserts on Ebay, along with one of the base cards, so the set will be represented in my collection.

  5. Innovation is really evolving; it’s nice to see that the company is taking member feedback seriously, as the game-dated/stat-line Jerseys show, as well as a greater diversity of autos from retired players. Seeing the same names in so many products only serves to further weaken the market.
And the “Kaboom” art-cards are just sick. Are they numbered?
    Nice job, sweet gallery!
