The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2019-20 Illusions Basketball

OK, now here’s something you don’t see every day. In fact, if you stick around you’re about to see something you’ve never seen on any day: Illusions Basketball. Indeed, Panini America’s newest NBA product has never stepped foot on the hardwood. But starting tomorrow, it will. Borrowing elements from its successful NFL sibling, 2019-20 Illusions Basketball features attractive two-photo fronts, flashy foils, gorgeous parallels, compelling player pairings, lots of Acetate and desirable ink and memorabilia inclusions.

The product, exclusive on the hobby side to Panini America’s direct hobby shops and on the retail side to Walmart stores, delivers, on average, one autograph, 14 parallels, eight inserts or insert parallels and five Acetate or Acetate parallels per hobby box (six cards per pack, 14 packs per box, 12 boxes per case).

The wildly popular Draft Night Signatures, featuring pieces of Acetate that were autographed by players at the 2019 NBA Draft, will be hobby exclusive. Also exclusive to the hobby edition are First Impressions Jersey Autographs and Superlatives Signatures with Gold, Green and Purple parallels.

Base and Rookie parallels range from the unnumbered Bronze to Red (numbered to 99), Blue (numbered to 25), Gold (numbered to 10), Green (numbered to five) and Purple 1/1s. Inserts and Acetate cards come with Gold, Green and Purple parallels as well.
