My name is Tracy Hackler. I am 42 years old. And I have a confession to make: I love 2012 Triple Play Baseball. I know this illustrated, animated tribute to baseball's best players -- with its 99-cent pack price, collectible stickers, and usable eye blacks -- is supposed to appeal to younger fans when it releases in July. But I can't help but love the product even more with each new view I get.

That certainly was the case late Friday afternoon, when I dropped by the all-revealing Panini America Routing Table for one final look before the long Memorial Day weekend. What I found were preliminary routings detailing some of the most unique and entertaining trading cards to come along in quite some time.
Enjoy this extended peek at just some of the fun that’s in store for 2012 Triple Play Baseball, including the When I Was a Kid subset, the Hall of Fame insert and a multitude of dynamic base cards. And stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional previews as they become available.

What a fun looking product for all age levels, I can’t wait to see a checklist to find out if my guy Tim Hudson made the set! Thanks Tracy, have a good holiday weekend!
whoever made the drawings of the players has some mad skillz. Love the cartoon feel. My favorite so far is the brian wilson card, looks cool.
It’s nice to see you guys reaching out to the kids with this one. This hobby has became quit an adult hobby over the past few years. Especially with prices at 50-500$ a box. These .99 packs will be perfect for the kids. Good Job guys.
kudos to the artists!
I think these look great. Not only do they draw attention to the younger ages…I actually want to try some for myself. I do have a question….are there an Ken Griffey Jr. inclusions?
I also just showed my son who was standing by (he is always watching when I am on the Knights Lance) and just the look on his face tells me what he thought of them.
Way to go Panini. I am excited for a regular, unique plain product. Thats what the hobby has been missing. And That it looks great and has appeal to our younger generation of collectors.
More Eye Black Please!
This is the worst idea Panini has had to date!!! And that is saying something! Cant wait until “kids” have to wait until after their high school graduation to get redemption cards!
Actually, the vast majority of the feedback we’ve gotten on this product to date has been really positive. And I don’t think you’ll have to worry about redemptions with this product — just a lot of fun and entertainment for just 99 cents a pack.
I’m with you on this one, Tracy. I have the exact opposite opinion of John, I think it’s the greatest idea Panini has had to date! It’s kind of like the ‘Score’ of Baseball! Kids *NEED* something they can buy for a buck a pack!
Set looks great but I have a few questions. With cards numbered in the 200’s, how large will this set be?
Will there be retail boxes at Target and Wal-Mart? I would love pick this product up locally because there is not a hobby shop close by.
Yes, this will be available at retail. Will check on the set size on Tuesday when we’re all back in the office.
The artists have some serious skills. Not only are they cartoony, which is great, but you can actually tell who each player is despite the cartoony look. That is fantastic work.
You nailed my thoughts exactly, Kevin.
I Think this is absolutely a great idea!!! Ive been collecting cards since i was a kid but didnt get into it till i was around 14, now i collect for three reasons, the passion and excitment,to one day pass my collection down to my son,and now to also try to get my son into collecting so we both have something incommon todo together as he grows up! Right now he just turned 4 years old and im trying to find away to get him in to sports and collecting!!! To see that Panini is coming out with this is perfect, reading this really made my day, thanks Panini and thanks Tracy for bringing it up!!!
We need more pics of the Eye Black cards!!! Can’t Wait!!
Great illustration..I’m really looking forward to your next post.
