March 16, 2016

Panini America 2016 Contenders Draft Picks Football QC2

For years, Panini America’s fabled Contenders brand has been widely regarded as football’s home of the autograph Rookie Card. Last year, with the launch of 2015 Contenders Draft Picks Football, the company’s first-ever licensed college football product, it also become known as the home of the autograph Draft Pick card. That pioneering release last season paved the way for a successful first year in college football.

But wait until you see what Panini America has planned for its sophomore follow-up, starting with next week’s release of 2016 Contenders Draft Picks Football. Panini America has updated the look and feel of the product while maintaining consistency within the insert lineup. Headlining this year’s edition are the most sought-after players from the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft and the NFL’s biggest stars in their college uniforms.

Each hobby box of 2016 Contenders Draft Picks Football (eight cards per pack, 24 packs per box) will deliver five autograph cards and a compelling mix of past, present and future with such subsets as Season Tickets, Game Day Tickets, School Colors, Old School Colors, Rush Week and Passing Grades. Also back for 2016 are chase-generating SPs, SSPs, variations and the popular Cracked Ice parallels.

In the extensive Quality Control Gallery that follows, we take an in-depth look at a little bit of everything 2016 Contenders Draft Picks Football has to offer — including absolutely zero redemptions or Panini Rewards points.

Enjoy the sneak peek and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage.

Nice designs! I’m really liking the ‘Game Day’ look of those cards. Question: I’ve seen you post blogs about the value of cards & players getting hot, etc. Do you know if sticker autographs hold the same value as cards where the autographs are ‘on-card’? New to the hobby. Thanks!

      Collectors prefer on card, always

Another excellent edition of Contenders, looks like a deep and comprehensive group of autos assembled for this release. Any reasoning behind going all sticker versus on card? Was it to avoid redemptions & points? Thanks Tracy!
