Panini Authentic made sports-business headlines earlier today with the big announcement that it had signed Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck to an exclusive multi-year autograph and memorabilia agreement, making him the first NFL athlete to join the Panini Authentic roster.

But perhaps the most pivotal moments of the new exclusive relationship occurred three weeks ago tomorrow, in the relative obscurity of an Indianapolis hotel room while Luck was beginning the first bye week of his NFL career.
