It’s been called the most successful hobby shop promotion of all time by longtime industry experts. It’s made hobby shops across North America bona fide post-Thanksgiving retail destinations. It’s delivered some of the most unique and sought after trading cards in recent years. And next week it’s making its triumphant return. News flash: Panini America’s 2016 Black Friday promotion is coming.
For the sixth straight year, Panini America is bringing the nationwide shopping frenzy of Black Friday to local hobby shops all over the country with another of its now-legendary wrapper-redemption programs. In the coming days, The Knight’s Lance will bring you everything you need to know about this year’s special event, including preview galleries, participating shop information, iCollectPanini.com components and more. But today, we’re bringing you a detailed first look at the 2016 Black Friday base set, Rookie Cards and the always-popular parallels.

This year, for the fist time ever, Black Friday will include a football-only version complete wit its own overwrap and the traditional multisport set that includes athletes from the worlds of basketball, baseball, soccer and NASCAR. The 75-card football-only set includes Rookie Cards numbered to 499 and limited parallels numbered to 50 (Decoys and Wedges), 25 (Cracked Ice), 10 (Rapture) and one (Hyperplaid). The multisport set includes the same set size and parallel structure but with Rookie Cards numbered to just 399.
Also featured in the football set: The first NFL trading card of Philadelphia Eagles longsnapper Jon Dorenbos, the reality-defying magician who rocked worlds on NBC’s hit show “America’s Got Talent.”
In the gallery that follows, we showcase some of the base cards, Rookie Cards and parallels coming to this year’s 2016 Black Friday sets. The promotion-exclusive release also marks the return of a comprehensive multisport autograph roster, memorabilia cards devoted to the NBA’s top rookies, the NFL’s Salute to Service, the triumphant return of Super Bowl memorabilia and many more surprises that will be revealed in the coming days.
Enjoy the imagery and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2016 Black Friday.

  1. I get it, magic is cool, the Eagles long-snapper is a celebrity now. I’m not hating on it so much as I am disappointed. The 2nd year Steelers Offensive Linemen Alejandro Vilanueva is an Army Ranger and hero of war. I’ve always liked the Salute to Service parallels across different products, so why not produce a card of a guy who actually served, and literally fought for our freedom. I’ve been tweeting and sending messages about this for over a year now, I would love to hear a response to this idea from anyone.
