Panini NIL Highlight: Ohio State Volleyball Delivers Key Dub
Written by: Isaiah Lucas
There’s something about rivalry matchups. No matter how a season is going, a team knows they’ll get 110 percent from the other side, creating an intensity like no other and making victory even more satisfying.
Ohio State’s volleyball team, one of the select members of Panini’s growing NIL program, experienced that sweet satisfaction last weekend when it knocked off Michigan in a five-set thriller to pick up their 11th win of the season (4th in B1G play). The road victory improved the Buckeyes’ record to 7-3 over their last 10 matchups with the Wolverines, snapping a two-match losing streak.
The Buckeyes didn’t trail during the first set, winning 25-20, took a back-and-forth third set 25-20, and then won the final set 15-7 after trailing early.
The offensive production was a balanced effort from both young and experienced talents, with four players totaling at least 10 kills, including freshman Emmi Sellman, who led the way with 18, and grad student Rylee Rader, who set a career high with 10.
It was a similar story with the defensive effort, with three players recording double-digit digs, including freshman Olivia Hasbrook (14), who was the first to 10 for the 21st time this season. Five Buckeyes also collected at least five blocks, including grad student Emily Londot (seven), sophomore Eloise Brandewie (six) and Rader (five).
Sophomore Mia Tuman recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 53 assists and 17 digs, while Londot’s 14th double-double of the season featured 15 kills and 21 digs, tying her career-high.
The victory also came with some movement in the school record books. Rader moved up to sixth in program history with 383 career block assists and tied for fifth in program history with 423 career blocks. Londot moved to fifth in program history with 384 career block assists and eighth in program history with 407 blocks.
All of those Ohio State players, plus a few more, can be found on Panini America’s NIL platform, which allows you to further celebrate this rivalry triumph with some exquisite trading cards.
